I have been yo yo dieting for over 20 years and slowly getting larger and larger after stopping each diet.  Although I have been successful in loosing weight I have never been able to keep it off.  I have actually been afraid to diet again because it has always ended with a net weight gain a year or so later.  The possibility of bypass surgery was first brought up about 12 years ago but the risk benefit ratio was just not there for me, (and I could do it on my own as I continued to prove again and again while growing larger and larger)  I finally was ready to consider it a year ago but when I checked my insurance they have a $10,000 bariatric surgery lifetime maximum and I just couldn't deal with the expense and the potential for catastrophic costs if complications should occur.  Now a year later I have finally decided to go for it.  I have hypertension, sleep apnea and "the knees of a 70 year old"  I am only working 2 days a week and often find myself limping out to the car at days end.  I have a three year old girl and I can't teach her to jump or run after her.
In December I decided I had to do something so I joined Weight Watchers and met with Dr. Saber.  I began working through the process still not 100% convinced I would do it.  I started reading the roux-en-y posts all the way back to year old ones and learned so much, had all my questions answered without ever even asking one.  It really helped me work through my issues and come to terms with my need for surgery.
