Dana, congratulations on your upcoming surgery. May peace and love surround you on your journey and carry you along safely. Remember to drink your water, take your vitamins, walk daily and most importantly, be gentle with yourself along the way. Lastly, don't forget to stop by occasionally and update your profile. I'M A "STARA"!!!!! Yesterday I began the first series of my surgery workup testing. I had an Endoscopy consultation in which the actual test I'll have on 9/12/02 and I had an Abdominal Ultrasound. The Ultrasound was nothing out of the ordinary seeing as how I have 3 children and had them done all the time during my pregnancies. What was unusual was how this doctor performing the ultrasound was so "impressed" with my internal organs. Yep, that's right! She kept commenting on how "pretty" my pancreas (sp?) was and how you could see the head, body and tail of it. She went on and on about my spleen, bladder but was most excited about my pancreas. So much so that she went and got her colleagues to come see. Can you believe it? They too were all in there oooohing and aaaahing over my insides. Then, one doctors says how they rarely see such organs in perfect shape and with such clarity. Get this, then they begin to ask me if they could have my permission to use the photos of my organs in one of their upcoming seminars and possibly in the publication to go along with it? I was in total shock! I've seen many posts about being offered modeling opportunities because of your looks and I get offered the opportunity to have my insides published. If I didn't know any better I'd think that they were trying to tell me that I'm prettier on the inside than on the outside. LOL LOL I said, "what the heck." Sure you can use the photos of my insides and asked them, "will this make me a STARA?" They boiled over in laughter and thought that was the funniest thing that I said "stara". Anyway, I got a big kick out of it. So if any of you see any health publications going around from doctors at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center it's quite possible that it's me! Everything went well yesterday with the testing. I'm getting anxious now that things are actually happening and the ball is begining to roll. God bless those thinking about having WLS or who have come this far in their journey.
