Been Home 5 Days

Feb 12, 2007

Everything is going really well.  I am hungry though.  I have been on a clear liquid diet since the day before surgery and I can't wait to have some full liquid food tomorrow. Soup, cream cereal, milk.  It is funny the small things I am craving, I actually don't want all the normal cravings - so that is a good thing.  Well I will update again after my appointment on Friday.  Oh and if I go by my scale at home I have lost about 10 pounds which would be great.

I HAVE A DATE!!!!!!!!!

On February 8, 2007 I will be BANDED...

I got a call from Dr. Wood's office and they have been so wonderful and pretty much gave me the day that I wanted.

Now I am soooo excited but also a little scared.  When I told my best friend about the date she started planning all the places that we have to go for lunch next week.  Get all my favorites out of my system.  Luckily most of them are pretty healthy.

So YEAH for me I have a date!

Well I got a call from my PCP and they faxed over the letter to Dr. Wood's office.  BUT they did not name the type of diets I have been on in the past such as Herbalife, Medical Weight Loss, Atkins, South Beach, etc... and the list goes on.  Patricia at Dr. Wood's office said that they could just write in the information and initial it and then send it.

Well funny thing - as I was typing the information above, Patricia called me and said that she received the corrected letter and the surgical scheduler will be calling me in the next few days... WOW - I am soooo excited.  I will post more once I know the date.

Well I got a call from Patricia at Dr. Woods office yesterday on my way home from work.  She said that she faxed some information to my doctor and all I need to schedule my surgery is that letter of support that my doctor is not getting to them.  I am now 26 days not smoking and I feel great about that.  Now all I need is for my doctor to get on board and type up the stupid letter and I will finally be able to get banded.  Waiting is not fun.  My son asked me last night if when I have the surgery will I go swimming with him this summer and help him learn to ride his bike?  I said once I have the surgery and I start getting this weight off I will be able to do all the normal things mommy's do.  I am just so tired of being FAT and unhealthy and tired all the time and just BLAH... grrrrrrr  I really hope that all of this gets sorted out now that Dr. Woods office is in contact with my PCP maybe they will be able to get my doctor moving.  In the last month alone I have probably gained 10 pounds (quitting smoking) My BMI keeps going up.  I just need to become myself again.  One of my best friends (who does not think I should get this surgery I might add) well she has even commented that she wants me to be happy and she has even noticed that I have become more gaurded about my weight and it has made me depressed and I am just not the same person I was 5 years ago.  I am just tired of being fat and I feel like I am just a blob with no energy, no control over myself.  Well I think I am done for now.  Hopefully the next time I post it will be with good news... we can only hope!

So I was sick yesterday and went to my PCP office and I have a lousy sinus infection.  I feel really yucky.  I did ask my doctor about the letter of support AGAIN and she said that she was looking to get  a templet from CORI.  I am not sure that she understands that I just need a basic letter on her letterhead stating that she is supportive and everything.  So I called Patricia at CORI and she said that she would fax over something to her and hopefully this will make it so my doctor understands what I have been asking for.  I think she just wants something from another doctor and not just me saying a want it.  I don't know but I am really getting tired of being fat and unhealthy.

Well I also gained another 5 pounds in the last three weeks.  I think it is because I quit smoking so I guess it is good that I am not smoking but I really wish that I didn't want to munch on things instead of smoke.  I need a hobby that keeps my hands busy.  On a positive note I have been officially smoke free now for 25 days, only 5 more days and I can be submitted for approval based on not smoking for 30 days, now if I can get that letter in those 5 days I would be extatic.  Well back to work for now.  I will update once I actually know something.

Well I am getting a little ansy.  My PCP still has not given me a letter of support and I don't know what I should do.  I have 12 more days until I am smoke free for 30 days (Yay me!) but without the letter I cannot have my paperwork submitted to BCBS for approval.  I really want to get the LapBand procedure done as soon as possible.  I want to start my life over and work on becoming a healthier me.  The reason the doctor has not provided the letter is because she is still waiting on my transferred files from my old doctor which were mailed to them on December 21st.  They really should have them.  I am thinking that maybe I should look into getting a new PCP but I really like mine now.  I can understand her being cautious but shouldn't she do something for me that I really want???  I am just rambling but I really think that after almost 15 years of struggling with my weight she would be supportive of my decision regardless of how long I have been her patient.  Well I hope next time I can say that I have a date or am approved or something.  I am just TIRED of the waiting.

Well I had my consult with Dr. Woods today.  He was very informative.  I really liked him.  He said that I am going to do great with the surgery and that I am a good candidate for the LapBand procedure because I have a positive attitude about losing the weight and becoming healthy.  He also said that whatever my doctor needs he will make sure to provide her with the information to get the ball rolling.  I am very excited and feel good about the progress CORI is making to help me get the surgery done.  Dr. Wood also said that it is good that I already quit smoking so now I only have 20 more days till I am smoke free enough for surgery so againg - Yay me.

Well I quit smoking on Sunday, December 17, 2006.  Yay me...  It has not been very easy but if I want to have surgery I need to NOT be a smoker anymore.  So as I see it I am not only going to be making my body healthy by losing all this added weight but I am also going to make my lungs healthier.  My family is very supportive and happy that I have to quit to have surgery.  They have wanted me to do it for years.  So again - Yay me!

Well I saw my PCP yesterday and she is not against me getting surgery but she is unsure on what the surgeon needs from her.  She wants all my old documentation from my old doctor before she will write the letter of support.  I am a little frustrated but I understand that she wants to make sure that I HAVE tried everything and that I am not going into this blind.

On a positive note I received a call from Cori today and have been rescheduled for my consult to be on December 27th.  That is good because now I will know what I will need to do to get the process moving.
