Hi Sharon, My name is Karen and I am only 4 weeks post op. My surgeon also said no drinking anything 1/2 hour before or after eating.. INCLUDING SOUPS!!! I asked the same question...They explained that you need the room in your new tummy to absorb all the protein it call... and drinking water will just flush it down and also you wont get a full sensation... I am allowed split pea, lintil, egg drop and meso soups... hope this helps.. :)

Sharon,
IN-N-OUT!!!!! Oh my heck Sharon, as a Southern Cal. Native, transplanted to Oregon 7 years ago, I would KILL for an in-n-out burger right about now! My favorite was an animal double double... Such memories... Well, I've just chocked down the last of my fleet pre-op crap, and I will join you on the other side tomorrow... But tonight, thanks for the burger memories!

Hi Sharon... I just wanted to say Congrats and welcome to the other side... I tried to find you the whole time you were in the hospital and I was a dummy and kept calling Fountain Valley instead of Orange Coast.. LOL... finally the day you got out I figured it out. I hope you're feeling well. Talk to you later.

I'M A BIG LOSER. YES, A BIG LOSER. I JUST GO HOME FROM THE HOSPITAL ABOUT 2 HOURS AGO. HAD MY OEN RNY ON TUESDAY, DECEMBER 10, AS MY WONDERFUL ANGEL KELLY LET EVERYONE KNOW. I AM DOING REALLY WELL. I'M TIRED FROM THE RIDE HOME, BUT JUST WANTED TO LET EVERYONE KNOW THAT I AM WELL. ONE THING, I CAUGHT A COLD IN THE HOSPITAL AND STARTED COUGHING AND SNEEZING TODAY. THAT REALLY, REALLY, HURTS, BUT IT HURST WORSE TO HOLD IT IN. THERE WAS SOME GUY STANDING OUTSIDE MY ROOM TWO DAYS AGO WHO WAS COUGHING, SNEEZING AND BLOWING HIS NOSE RIGHT INTO MY ROOM. HE STOOD THERE FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES. I FINALLY GOT UP TO CLOSE THE DOOR. AS I CLOSED THE DOOR I GAVE HIM A PIECE OF MY MIND ABOUT HAVING A COLD AND VISITING PEOPLE OF THE SURGICAL FLOOR. WHAT I HADN'T REALIZED IS THAT HE HAD GIVEN ME SOMETHING MORE THAN JUST A PIECE OF HIS MIND, HE GAVE ME HIS ROTTEN COLD. OTHER THAN THAT, I FEEL PRETTY GOOD. BEST WISHES TO ALL WHO ARE HAVING UPCOMING SURGERY, TO THOSE WAITING FOR APPROVAL KEEP UP THE FIGHT. TO EVERYONE ELSE HAPPY HOLDIAYS AND KEEP LOSING.

If all you PRE-ops want some inspiration, drop a note to Sharon's surgery page. She's 4 days post Open RNY, going home tomorrow, walking, drinking water, eating Jello and pudding, cheerful and just doing so GREAT! I can only hope all of us pre-ops do as well as Sharon. If you're nervous about surgery, or afraid after reading negative information about surgey, Sharon's story will make you want to rush into the operating room tomorrow! You go, Sharon! My hero!

It's OFFICIAL!! Sharon is a GAINER!! She's going to GAIN self-confidence, GAIN better health, GAIN a better body, GAIN a new wardrobe, GAIN more freedon, GAIN a waistline, GAIN compliments, etc. etc. etc. Sharon's open RNY was yesterday. I saw her in the hospital today and she looks great. Awake, pumping the pain button, talking, cheerful, she just looked awesome for someone who had their guts re-arranged yesterday. And to the dissapointment of many, I did NOT wear my size 28 Victoria's Secret THONG and steel reinforced bra. I figured if Sharon was sleeping and woke up to find MY giant white body in an angel costumer, she might think she'd died and gone to Heaven! Send Sharon wishes, everyone! And all us pre-ops should hope we do as well as she's doing 24 hours after surgery.
