FINALLY, less than 30 days to surgery 28 days and a wake up. WhooHoo!
I don't have a thing ready. I had been so focused on getting approved, that after I got approval I was sort of numb. It is such a stressful process. I haven't even answered the well-wishing e-mails of the wonderful people who have wished me luck and congratulated me. I just want to thank you all and let you know I will be answering each one of you individually. Now I'm starting to come around and realize that this is actually going to happen. Oh goodness! I need to clean my house, get my bag packed for the hosptial, do my Christmas shopping, put up the tree, and up-date my will (though I know it won't be necessary, but it's good to be prepared). My life is in the hands of the Lord, and he is good to me. HE has guided me through this process and led me to this wonderful site, so that I would have the support I needed from others who understand what I am going through. I am also very fortunate to have a very supportive husband. He has been behind me on my decison 100%. We just celebrated ou 16th wedding anniversary. I prayed that I would someday find a wonderful man who would be supportive and loving. God answered that prayer just as HE answered my prayer for a healthier and logner live. God bless everyone on this site and all the volunteers who make it possible for this site to remain current.

APPROVED -- APPROVED -- APPROVED, I'VE BEEN APPROVED. I'm screaming as I'm writing this. I can't believe it. After all I've gone through, I've finally been approved. I have to call the surgeons office later today for a date. I was going to wait to post until I had a date, but I JUST CAN'T CONTAIN MYSELF!!!!!! I'll post later with a date. Maybe I'll be a little calmer then. Thank you AMOS and everyone who posts here. You are all the best. You are helpful and giving people. I have learned so much from all of you. YIPEEEEEEEE!

Hi Sharon, Glad to see you out of the dark corners and onto the message board! Welcome! My husband had a heart attack sveral yrs ago and after he had been home for 6 weeks and excersised and was feeling much better, they wanted him to do a stress test. Well, I freaked out and they assured me that if he was not able to do the test normally, that they would perform the test you are describing, giving them the same results, but using different methods. He was surrounded by specialists and heart monitors.....this is all these particular people do is give stress tests over and over...they are well trained. So that put my mind to rest. I think they can see how your heart is working and if there are any blockages. Best of luck to you in your journey or as I call it "the ride of your life". Hope all goes well with you Sharon. Big Hug! Carol Percel

Sharon, I don't know if you got your ans. or not but I work for a group of cardoivascular docs and we do stress tests every day. Yes there are some risks associated with the test. but you are in a controlled setting with trained personel and a dr.1st they will give you some nuclear med in an IV and then take some x-rays (this takes a while) then If you can't walk on the treadmill then they will give you some med to speed your heart rate up. either adenison, persantine, or dobutamine. Then they will take x-rays again while your heart rate is fast. Some people get a warm flushed feeling, some have cp or shortness of breath, but most of the time these are very mild and only last a few mins. This test shows if you have blockages in any of the arteries in your heart, (if you do then you are at higher risk for heart attack), it also shows how well your heart squeezes (ejection fraction), a normal ef is 50 or greater. another thing this test shows is if you have any leakage in any of your heart valves. It is the most accurate way to find out these things without going through a cardiac cath. If you have any more questions about the heart stuff, just email me. If I don't know the ans. I can find out pretty quickly. Good Luck and let me know how everything goes. Hope to be a loser soon. Rhonda
