April 23/08

So I'm 29 and really excited becaues this will be my year! I had my surgery and I'm on my way to looking great and I'm single again. I got my divorce order April 4/08. So a lot of stress has been lifted off my shoulders. I have an appoinment to see a therapist; talk out my problems. I had my first plateau which lasted about a week to 2 weeks. It happened to be around my period. It did say that would happen in the book. I have a picture at my desk that was taken November 3/07 and I look horrible. I'm soooo huge. I've been working out at least once a day weight training and I do my leg magic too. I was going to join up at the gym but cant afford it now. So I drink lots of water to help my skins elastisity. I still have a problem with protien but I'm trying hard to work on it. I love all the compliments I get. It just helps me keep going. I will never allow it to go to my head. To be able to fit into clothes that I havent in years is the best feeling in the world.

April 7/08- 6 week ck-up!

Apr 24, 2008

So I went and got weighed I had lost 25% of my weight that's 10% more than the average 10-15%. Everything is good but I'm having a hard time with my protien. I walk an hour min. everyday and I drink lots of water. I can't afford a gym membership but I have my treadmill in case rainy, hot or cold weather, I also have 5lbs weights for my arms and my leg magic machine(works inner thigh, butt & abs). I'm on regular foods but I don't feel hunger and I sometimes forget I have to eat. (Not good). But I'm working on it very hard, to get in all my protien  (70 grams). Well, I'm down 3 pant sizes, I'm in a XL from a 4x. Value Village is my new favorite store. At least until I get down to a steady weight. This summer will be mine. I hope to be down to at least 180 by summer time. That's only 44 lbs away. Hooray to summer!

So I've had my ups and down. I'm on the puree stage now. I went to my family Dr. on Mar 13 and I got weighed in at 246lbs. My clothes are literlly falling off me. I went from a snug 22 to a size 18. I went from a 3-4x  to a x-1x in shirts. I can't wait to start cardio. I'm walking everyday whether indoors or out, depending on weather. I found this name acronym from someone's profile on OH. I had a scare when I had a 24 hour fever on Sunday Mar 9. At first I thought it was from my surgery but they said that I was 2.5 weeks out and that if there had been any complications it would have shown sooner. Tuesday Mar 11 morning things passed and I was feeling better. I'm able to go up stairs (more than 20 steps)  and walk (more than 30min) without losing my breath. I enjoy where high heels without pain. I figure if I'm feeling good now can you imagine when I'm 200 lbs or less? I'll be flying. I'm excited that things are going. I'm trying not to expect too much but I do take my measurements to keep track of my progress. Everybody says it's noticable. I love getting compliments.

February 19/2008

Feb 22, 2008

So big day arrived. I woke up in the morning at 4:45am, took a shower and at 5:30am my dad and i went to pick up my friend who was also coming to the hospital with us. We got past the US border at about  5:45 and about 6:30 got to Barix Hospital. I went to sign in but a nurse came and asked who I was and the she said bless your heart. Apparently, Dr. Pop came early and they were ready to take me up. Up I went where I was given a gown and a really pretty party cap. LOL. I got completely undressed and just had the gown and hat on, oh yeah and my socks for a little while any way. I layed on the stretcher and they slowyly began to give me various forms to sign. My vitals were taken and then she put in my IV and went to take some blood to see if I was pregnant (trust me it's just a precation) and apparently I'm a squirter. I felt my blood dripping down my hand. I didn't dare look or else I know I would have panicked. So they cleaned up my blood and then I was hooked up to the heart machine ( a few stickers w/lines conected to a machine that bascially measure your heart rate and pressure). Then my dad and friend came up. They got to see me before I literly was put out. My dad had tears in his eyes he was a little worried, I told not to worry that everything will be fine and that I love him. My friend did get a pic of me after I was give the anesthtics and I looked high in the picture. It is one for the memory book. My surgery took 2 hours and all I remember is waking up and be asked to rate my pain. The surgery had sucessfully been down laproscopicly and I only had 5 cuts. Boy what I relief. That was my only fear. The I was given a morphine clicker and boy did I click away. AFter awhile I was comfortable. I was up and walking. Every 3 hours someone would come and do breathing excercises with me, than someone would come and take my vitals, then someone would come and check my cathater(you have it in for one day), and then someone would check my belly to see that my cuts are healing properly also someone coming to remind you to walk at least once every two hours. I hardly slept but that was OK I knew everyone was there contributing to my recovery. On Wednesday night Dr. Pop asked me if I wanted to go home. Although that would have been nice to sleep in my own bed, I thought it would be safer to stay one more night to make sure everything is good.  Wednesday morning I had my Oxygen removed and my cathiter. So Thursday I had a shower which felt awesome and then I packed my things and was discharged by noon! We stopped by the pharmacy before leaving the states to get my prescription filled and then it was off to Windsor. When I got home my daughter was very excited to have me home and I was glad to be home. I went and I lied  down finally a nap without interuptions. It was kinda hard because well you can lie only on one side. But it has gotten better. My mom has been staying with me at my house overnight which I feel more safe knowing someone is there in case something happens. But I've been getting my protein in all 70 grams and I'm very excited. I've managed to get 32oz of water but I also have popsicles twice a day. I take my multi vit twice a day and my zantac.  I've been having regular bowel movements everyday and I've been waking at least 5 mins every hour when I'm not sleeping. So I try to rest as much as possible, but remeber to drink my water as much as possible. So far so good and I'm not regretting so far about having my surgery. I know what to expect and I don't expect to lose all my weight tomorrow. Only one day at a time.

For February 6/08

Feb 08, 2008

I went to Barix clinic for me P.A.T's (Pre-Admission Tests). I had my information taken then I got a really cool bracelet with my name on it. Then I had my blood taken, (5 viles to be exact), after that I was weighed (down to 266 lbs), after I had to pee in a cup, then I changed into a really nice hospital gown, LOL, afterwards I  got X-Rays taken, then a doctor came who gave me a physical, then I had a nurse come who did an EKG. I 've never had one before so it was cool. Then I recieved a Respirex machine and I had to take deep breaths and also take home and practice, I also had to breath into a machine which kinda made me dizzy, I also recieved a bag with a sponge that I'm supposed to use when I take a shower the day of my surgery and a list of what to do from P.A.T's to surgery. After everything checked out I meet with the nutritionist and let me tell you it was really informative. I got this big book with every bit of info you'll need after your surgery. No one can say they didn't know. I'm really excited and looking foward to my big day where I too will join the loser's bench!

Diet's going good!

Jan 31, 2008

So I've been on a diet since last Monday the 21st. I'm down 8 lbs. I have two more to go but I will try to lose more. I've been having one protein shake for breakfast and lunch and a sensible dinner. In between I have a protien snack (yougart, cheese, peanut butter). I've started walking today trying to get myself ready. We'll see how that goes. So far so good!

I have a surgery date!

Jan 18, 2008

So I went to Barix today because it's been so long since Dr. Poplawski seen me. Everything went well. He said I have to lose 10 pds by my surgery day. Then he sent in the nusrse who booked my pre-surgery testing and my surgery date. My dad came with me and he was very impressed with Dr. Poplawski. He's actually very excited for me. So I'm due to go in for Pre-testing Feb 6/08 at 8:15am. Seriously I'm not a morning person. But I'll make the exception this time. LOL! And my surgery date is Feb 19/08. So I'm really flying with drenalin (sorry not a very good speller). Well, I'm hoping to get to Windsor support group on Feb 5/08 and meet some who have had the surgery in person. I actually met someone who was just going home and she seemed fine. She said that felt good and was apparently ready to go home after one day but for safety she stayed another day! I hope I recover like that.

I'm approved!

Jan 11, 2008

I just recieved my approval via xpresspost! I'm so excited! I've been calling all my friends and telling them about my approval! My friends are happy and my family is too but mixed feelings. Worried and happy is what they are! Well, I know there are risks but I've balanced the risks with the pros of having the surgery and the seem to over balance the scales to the pros! I've had my gallbladder removed laproscopicly and I didn't really know all the risks! I've also lost 80 pounds very quickly(anorexia) and yes I was weak from malnutrtion but I never lost my hair and I always took a multi vitamin! I beleive if you do what the doctor orders you shouldn't have a problem! Besides Dr. P is doing my surgery and I haven't heard of him having anyone die on his table! So I'm not going to be the first!!!! I'm going to go into full postive thinking mode and I'm confident that all will go well!

Good day!

Dec 27, 2007

So I left a message with OHIP to confirm that they recieved my application! It was midnight when I left the message. In the morning at 10am I recieved a phone call from Holly at OHIP who told me that they did recieve my application and to call her back in a couple of weeks on her priivate line and she'd let me know whether my applicaiton was approved! I'm so excited!

OHIP Form sent!

Dec 18, 2007

I called my family doctor to see when the OHIP forms were sent! The receptionist said on the 7th! So now is waiting time! I hope not to long!
