This is me...I want to be open and honest and share me with you. I hope if anything if there are other's out there that have gone through similar experinces than I have they can know that they aren't alone and they can change their path.

I'm 37 years old, married to the most wonderful man in the world. We are about to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary on September 7. I have two beautiful daughters ages 19 and 13.

I have been overweight my entire life. My first diet was Weight Watchers when I was 8 years old. That is also when I can remember my binge eating started. I would sneak down into the kitchen in the middle of the night and seek out peanut butter or cookies and just eat it until it was gone. That started a trend of dieting, binging, dieting, fasting, dieting, binging...until now. I was 80 pounds in Kindergarten, I remember hitting 210 around 12, 250 at 16, and 300 at 18. My highest weight was 380 at 35 and today my weight is 337.4 at 37 years old. I just keep going up and down, each time the up is higher. I'm scared half to death to hit 400, and I'm scared half to death to not be able to walk.  I have trouble with my feet and knees now. I just want to be NORMAL and HEALTHY. I want to run with my kids and have energy and do things I have never been able to do before. Walk to the bathroom in a restaurant without worrying if I'll fit between the patrons on the way. OMG People misunderstand why people go through these procedures...it's not to get thin. Not for those who are seriously in need of it.  It is for health, normalcy, to live. It's not the easy way out, it is SO FAR from the easy way. You work your butt off from day one and you continue the rest of your life. You whole life will be altered.

I started my WLS Journey January 12, 2011. I went to a seminar at Memorial Medical Center (MMC) Springfield IL. I had pretty much decided that it was what I was going to do when I went so I stayed and did the intro seminar. I have opted to have the RNY Laproscopic procedure. This is the second time I have tried to have this surgery, I tried back in 2000 but was denied by my insurance company. My doctors have been trying for the last five years or so to have me do this but I was so discouraged by my first experience I didn't want to get my hopes up and then let down. It was devestating. The wonderful team at MMC do it all. They have a total program with absolutely wonderful track record. They go to bat for you in every aspect of the program, from insurance approval, physical therapy, dietary support, nutrition classes, support group, mental health...it's all there pre and post op. Once you are a patient, you are a patient for life. I'm so far extremely happy with the team and the program that I just can't gush enough about how happy I am to be in the program.
