HI… My name is Kelli and my story begins just about like everyone else’s does. As I kid I was a little on the chubbier side of the scale but not too bad. My teenage years I was very active and on the skinny side. It wasn’t until after I had my first child that I became overweight. After having him, I was able to lose some of the baby weight and was pleased, then I got married, had another baby, got comfortable and it all went downhill from there. I didn’t do much exercising as I was a busy working mom with a husband and two boys. What seems like a go go go life it wasn’t the healthy go life. I had a desk job and school so I wasn’t very active but extremely busy.

I would have the same conversations over and over in my head about wanting to lose weight, going on some diet, losing the weight, going off the diet and gaining everything plus more back. My doctor gave me different pills to try and those all worked for the short period of time, but no long term success.

So imagine my surprise when you combine the right foods and exercise weight comes off! However you really have to do the two together and for the longest time I wasn’t able to that. I would do one or the other but not together for a long period of time.

  (FAST FORWARD A FEW YEARS)…..

End of February 2011, I took the first step and started a couch to 5K program and 8 weeks later I ran my first 5k. I was hooked on the exercise bug. I started working with a personal trainer 3 days a week and doing my own thing the other days. I was eating healthy and doing what was right but sadly the scale weren’t showing what we all had hoped to see. My trainer finally suggested I go see my doctor, as my trainer was seeing the hard work I was doing and the results not producing. After seeing my doctor she sent me to an Endocrinologist and come to find out my body is genetically designed to be fat! Imagine the horror that I felt hearing that. The doctor said I was a perfect candidate for WLS…. I asked her why she thought that if my body is design like this. She said that if I can get down to a manageable size I can control the gene that is keeping me fat, right now it is controlling me.

(A little more background for you…. I had already started the WLS process twice and backed out at the end because I was losing weight on their “diet” so I figured I hadn’t given it my all if I was losing weight I could do it on my own.)

After hearing that the likely hood of me doing it on my own for what I wanted was not going to happen and really searching within myself knowing I had explored and done every option out there….. I was missing a piece of my puzzle. I am finally at peace with my decision and know that I have done everything the right way and that I will be successful the final piece get put into place!

My goals this year are to run 5 5ks and a 10k and I can’t wait to do it lighter and faster!

Thanks for reading my story and I’d love to chat with anyone :)
