One Month Post-Op

Jul 25, 2012

Hello! So I am one month post op... I am not sure yet my total lost for one month til I stop at the drs office in the morning. The first month has been pretty good. I have some good days and some off days. For the most part I am getting in my fluids and protein. I returned back to work and thats been a little challenging with getting my fluids in as I almost forget. Its a totally different routine than pre-op. I started to exercise again but going slowly. I think my biggest challenge is my head tells me I have way more energy then my body actually has.... a little frustrating. Well thats about it for now. I will update when I get my numbers. Have a great everyone :)

4lbs to go...

Jun 10, 2012

So I stopped at the dr office on my way to work to get weighted to see where I am at with my 16lb goal…. Happy to say only 4lbs left. This 16lbs is so I don’t have to do a 2 week liquid pre-diet. I will check in again with them on Wednesday. Still have not heard from the insurance company. I need to hear soon in order to get it scheduled before July. I have not lost faith yet….

I will continue to do my shake in the morning, shake at lunch time and a low/no carb dinner…. It seems to be working so far!

Its in the Insurance hands now....

Jun 07, 2012

The WLS team met yesterday and it was decided I have met all their requirements and they are submitting to the insurance company! I am so nervous…. I want to be excited but I am afraid to because it could come back denied. I really hope it doesn’t. I am so ready to move on with my life. I hope the case reviewer is in a good mood when they get my case…lol, hopefully I don’t get a slacker and it sits and sits

Any way I cant worry about it…. Its in the insurance hands now… just got to say a prayer and hope for the approval. Have a wonderful day everyone…if anyone is reading this.

Hoping and Praying:

Jun 05, 2012

So last week we got some news with one of my husbands jobs (firefighter/paramedic) is done. This job holds our health insurance and is only good now til the end of June. First thought is ok, well we can get insurance through my job, well my insurance only covers the surgery at certain hospital and its not where my team is at!!! So I had my last pre surgery requirement last Thursday and I called the office and told them my situation and they are going to try and make it work so I can have surgery there before my insurance runs out. All my paper work goes to the team tomorrow 6/6 to review and get their decision. If approved they will submit to the insurance company. Hopefully the insurance company reviews and approvals quickly. I need to lose 16lbs or do a two week pre-op liquid diet and the nurse was concerned I wouldn’t have time, I am just doing the diet now to ensure hopefully a 16lbs lost.

So if anyone out there is reading this….. PLEASE say a pray that everything gets approved, I lose the 16lbs  and I can have this surgery before the end of JUNE!

Taking Control!

May 16, 2012

Today I finished my nutrition classes. My doctor has this program that you need to take that has 6 modules related to nutrition. It talks about everything from diet to exercise to support to protein to vitamins. One class we had to actually measure of things and weight things. We had to write out a meal and calculate the protein, sugar calories, etc. I found all the modules very helpful and learned great resources.

Last week as  I was sitting  in my class waiting for it to start, a co-worker was came in, I was a little shocked. After hugging she said she was wondering if she would see me at any of these classes.  I thought that was odd cause I hadn’t said anything  but to one friend at work, that I was talking about WLS, come to find out she told her. Now at first I was hurt and upset thinking how could she tell someone else my business but then after some time and  thinking,  I decided that I should not fill ashamed to have this surgery.  I have worked really hard and I need that final piece to my puzzle for the long term success. It’s really sad how I think some people view WLS. This decision is in NO way easy, the process is NOT easy and the journey itself is NOT easy….. This is NOT an easy fix. Yes people lose weight every day, yes it can be done, however the long term success is very minimal and some it just doesn’t work. I am NOT ashamed, I am proud I am taking control of my body and not letting my body control me anymore!
