One month check up

Dec 29, 2011

I had my one month checkup today with the surgeon.  I have lost 23 pounds since my preop appointment.  I was aiming for more.  I wanted to be down 6 more.  So basically I missed my first goal.  That being said I can not remember the last time I had lost 23 pounds so that is exciting.  I am going to have to reevaluate my next goal which was to be in onederland by my next birthday.  I want to be challenged but I don't want to miss goals.  So that is something to thing about.

But my surgeon was happy.  She said that in the first month a 15% loss of my excess weight is within (but at the low end) of the normal range.  She also wants me to do 30  minutes of cardio 3 to 5 times a week.  I have been walking and that really does make me sweat but she is looking for more than that.  I have an elliptical but I know I would work just as hard on the treadmill.

I also met with the nut.  Today is my first day of soft foods.  She wants me to get more protein from food and only one protein shake a day.  She also told me that I don't need to eat all of the food I planned.  If I can't eat it in 30 minutes I get to give up.  Which is good as I was trying to eat everything and getting too full.

2 weeks post op

Dec 14, 2011

Today I started my programs purée phase.  I had yogurt and baby apple and bana sauce for breakfast and then 1/4 c of refried beans mixed with a 1/4 c of plain Greek yogurt but I could only finish half I had the rest for dinner and some more apple and banana sauce with the actigall ( to prevent gallstone) mixed in.  Adventures in puréed food!

Also I have an NSV - I had been wearing my wedding band something I have not done for months because it did not fit! My hubby is very excited too.

One week post op

Dec 08, 2011

My weigh in at my one week post op was 250.  I had weighed in the day before - naked first thing in the morning at 248.6.  So I guess 250 at 2 pm and clothing is not bad.  They said that I have lost 9% of my excesses body weight.  They estimate that at 154 - so if I lost all of my EBW I would weight 110!  I weight that much when I was in sixth grade and a number of inches shorter.  I will be aiming for 160 that was the last adult weight that I remember being comfortable at.  The still puts me firmly in the overweight category but (right now at least) I am okay with that.
