Feeling Good Day 4 VSG

Jan 20, 2012

Hi everyone and happy Friday!

Today I'm feeling good. I had some sugar free pudding this morning to help me take my prilosec that the Dr prescribed me. I have to open the capsule up and put it in the pudding and take it that way. It took me a little while but I was able to eat one of those little pre packaged cups of pudding and I feel fine. I got down 16oz of water already; the goal is to drink 64 oz a day.

I'm now working on my protein drink, for my protein today I'm drinking one of those new whey liquid protein shot, its 3.8 FL. oz and has 42g of protein in it. I'm finding the protein to be very helpful and an important part of this.

I gained about 15lbs in the hospital from fluids and I’m finally seeing some of that come off, I lost 5lbs since yesterday. I’ve been making myself get up every half hour and walk around the house a few times. I hope everyone is doing well and I will check in with you later, take care and have a great day.

VSG Day 2

Jan 20, 2012

Hi everyone.  I just got home from the hospital. I had my sleeve surgery on Monday January 16th and stayed in the Hospital on Monday, Tuesday and all day Wednesday.

Everything went good with the surgery and I even got some nice pictures of my new sleeve. For me the hardest part of this was the drain tube and the pain from that drain was so excruciating for me. The pain was on one side and went up to my shoulder. OUCH did that hurt. But once they took that drain out I felt so much better, what relief. I was nauseous on the second day and ended up throwing up once, I think part of that was from having to drink that stuff for the leak test. They took good care of me though with some very helpful meds for the pain and nausea. :)

Today I feel great, a little tender in the tummy area but I feel so good, especially since they took out that drain. Wow, all these months waiting for this day and it’s done. When I started coming out from surgery I remember the first thing I said was is this for real or a dream and they are like this is real :) Now I’m officially on the loser bench.

Have a great day...

Brene Brown - The Power of Vulnerability!

Jan 03, 2012

Hello  Happy New Year!

I'm glad the holidays are over because now it is time to refocus and prepare for my Surgery. Friday is my Pre-Op appointment and I'm getting very nervous but at the same time excited and ready for this new chapter in my life. At our last support group meeting this great video was mentioned. I found it very helpful for some of my issues. Because one thing I have to remember about Weight Loss surgery is that this is a great tool to help you lose weight, but that is all it does: it doesn't fix everything. It won't fix any issues you have in your life, your head or in your marriage and it won't fix the reason you got that way to begin with > Something you need to face and work on and stuff like that. So I've discovered a few of my issues and found this to be a great video for me so I wanted to share it with you as well. So watch and enjoy: I hope you find it enlightening and helpful like I did.

Pre-Op Education Class

Dec 22, 2011

Hi everyone. Well I had a pre op class the other day that was so informative. Thank you to my surgeon.  He went over everything about what to expect before surgery, at the hospital, during surgery and after surgery. As well as went into everything we needed to do like with nutrition, vitamins and exercise and everything.  It really has helped me with my anxiety about what to expect and surgery and I feel well informed and ready to go.  My surgery date is coming up in less then a month now and I'm happy, nervous and excited all at the same time.

Happy Holidays
