What a difference a month makes....

Aug 11, 2009

I am so much better than I was a month ago, thank God.  I literally thought I would never get better.  I haven't lost a lot more weight but anything is better than nothing.  I even gained a few pounds and then lost them but guess that's normal when you are as obsessed with weighing every day as I am.  (Yes, I know I shouldn't).  Anyway, eating is much better but the thing is that I'm surprised that 10 weeks out from my RNY that I can eat salad, tomatoes, and to think before surgery I hated tomatoes!  That is truly weird, now it's like I can't get enough.  I've also had watermelon but didn't eat the fibrous part of the watermelon so it was more like drinking watermelon and it was so good to chew watermelon, as it does "melt" in the mouth right down into water.  My next appt with Dr. Pohl is on Thursday the 13th and the most pressing issue at hand is why do I still have occasional abdominal pain around my lap incisions and where my 2 JP drains were after the second surgery.  Also, have to get my release to go back to work and lo and behold I was lucky enough to land a new job to start on the 24th which means now I will have an office job rather than doing home care.  Home care is okay but I've done home nursing for a round 15 years of my career and I'm ready for a change.   I'm driving again and getting out and doing things both outside the home and at home so things are definitely an improvement over last month, thank you God, once again!
