I am 34 years old and am almost five years out from my initial RXN-Y surgery. I had surgery on October 30, 2007.  I would have had it long before that, but had issues with getting the approval of my insurance company.  Luckily it all happened at exactly the right time. I had lost 165 pounds within the first year and kept it off for nearly three years.

In 2010, I had lots of complications. Between March and December of that year, I had 8 small bowel obstructions, a hernia, and a partial colon removal. Even through all the complications, I still never regretted having the RXN-Y and still loved the life that it allowed me to have. Unfortunately though, after all the complications, my body had been through so much trauma that my pouch ended up deformed. I had a large bulge that stuck out the side of my pouch, which acted as an enlarged stomach. I had gained 130 pounds and then decided to do something about it.

On Christmas Eve morning of 2012, I went in for a revision. My surgeon was not sure how complicated the procedure was going to be, because of the blood flow and how everything was positioned, but it was much better than he had ever expected. I was very thankful that he was able to do the surgery laparoscopically. I woke up from surgery and barely had any pain whatsoever. I went home the next day and everything has been terrific.

Feel free to read my blog to get more information on my progress and what stage I am after surgery.
