Question:
Any Post Ops with profiles here who started at about 250?

I am 5 feet & 2 inches at a weight of 250.I would like to read profiles of post ops who were similar in proportion and their progress--regardless of the rate of weightloss & regardless of positive or negative events. I'd really appreciate it. Thank you.    — mary V. (posted on March 9, 2002)

Hi, I started a little heavier than you, at 267 and I went up to 271 the day I came home from the hospital. I am currently 5 months post op and I now weigh 198. I feel great!!!!!! I am so happy that I had this surgery, already it has given me a NEW lease on life. I love the way I look and feel now. I have more confidence. And let me add, I am a very Happily married woman, but now I see the guys looking at me alot. Before I was just another body to them. I get appreciative glances all the time!!!! Good luck and god bless. Open Rny 10/4-73lbs.

I was 241 at 5'1, I am now 6 weeks post op and I have lost 40 pounds. I have some nutritional issues, but I am still in the game to win. Just be aware that complications don't discriminate, it doesn't matter how much you weigh or how old you are. I wish you the best.

I am 5 ft. 4 in. and started on 6-18-01 at 266. I am now at 162 and trying to break a plauteau! I have lost well and feel great, but am a little tired of hovering at 104 pounds lost for about a month. But I have been been doing lots of weights and they say muscle weighs more than fat of course. I have kept my profile updated ad would welcome any questions you might have. Best Wishes!

I am 5'9", weighed 256 and had a BMI of 38 prior to surgery. I had surgery 12/12/01, so I am almost 3 months post op. I had lost 41 lbs as of a little over a week ago. (I'm currently on a business trip and can't weigh) I began in a size 22/24 or 2X and am now down to an 18 or XL in regular sizes. I have been very happy with the surgery. My weight loss is slower than some but I am happy with it. The perfect weight for my height is 156, but my goal is 166 or a weight loss of 90 lbs. At 166, I should wear a size 12-14. I am almost half way there! Karen
