Question:
Why is it that Blue Cross of MI - approves other DR's patients faster?
I'm waiting to be approved by Bc/bs of MI. I have spoken with many others who are not BTC patients.. THat get approved in 10 days average...They are with three different DR.s not part of BTC (private) and i keep hearing from the web that BTC and BC/BS are an average of 35 days... I want to have this surgery this summer... what steps should i take? I would welcome ant suggestions... Thanks :) — Alma H. (posted on April 30, 2000)

im not sure why they take longer. i also have BC of mi and i had a approval
letter in 1 week. im not having it done at BTC

I just wanted to write and tell you not to give up. I have BCBS of Mi. and
it took one year for me to be approved. It was a long battle but I am
having the surgery next month ! I can't believe it, I can finally say next
month....I am going through St. Vincents Bariatric Center in INdianapolis
In. My best wishes are with you. Believe me, BCBS does things their own way
and nothing you can do will change the wait. Just be patient
and jump through every hoop they put in front of you. It is worth it in the
end.

Now theres a question! I too would like to know. I just
found out that its probably going to be at least another 2
months before i hear anything on an approval.I've spent the
last 3 monhts jumping through hoop after hoop for them. Then
on Friday, my husband comes home with new insurance cards. It
seems that his company id SO very disatisfied with BC of MI
that they have know swithched benefits to BC Trigon which I
know nothing about. Right Weigh isnt familiar with it either.
So now after all this,everything sent to MI is going to have
to be sent to VA where this new plan is. I could just pull
my hair out. In addition, I also found out today that my
Dr. is already booking surgery into late July and early
August. I'm beginning to wonder if this will ever happen.

Hi! I have BCBS and it took 5 weeks for approval. I also had my surgery
at BTC and I htought they were very helpful in the insurance process. I
have some co-workers who have the same insurance, went thru the same BTC
and one got turned down the first time, then approved. The other took 4
weeks for approval. I don't know why each person is different, hang in
there, it was the hardest part of my whole ordeal just waiting for
approval!! Good Luck!
