Question:
My staple line is broken in two places..anyone ever had revison for this?

I had my SRVG in 2001. I know that I will need a revision because of the breakage and bleeding. I am scared. Anyone ever have this done successfully?    — torran P. (posted on August 24, 2003)

I don't have an answer for you, but wanted to express my concern and prayers for a fix! Good luck!

I'm not exactly sure what a SRVG is but I'm assuming it is something similar to a VGB in which case the staple line is critical. Since they will need to redo, might it make sense to do something like the AGB which involves no staples? Sorry I can't really help but I will be thinking of you and hoping for a great result. Do you know when you will be having this done? Has it caused you any regain so far?

Hi, I went thru this exact thing. I had VBG in 1995, had a staple line disruption (SLD) around 2000-2001 and started gaining my weight back. I was revised to RNY in July 2002 and have lost all the weight I gained back and I'm still losing. I was off work less than two weeks and only had one stricture at about 3 months post. Other than that it has been great. Please e-mail me if you have any specific questions - [email protected]

I am not sure what SVRG is either but I did have staple line disruption with rny. I disrupted at about the six month mark and was redone four months later at 10 mos post op from original rny. I wasn't transected the first time and the surgeon went back in and transected the pouch and of course restapled/sutured the new pouch so that this will never happen again! Compared to the first surgery the second surgery was easier althoug not much easier. Same pain, same incision, but easier healing the second time. I lost 68 lbs with the first one and now an additional 50 or 60 with a total of 118. I feel great! What is SVRG?

Although I can't help with the question. I think I can help those wondering about SRVG. I believe it stands for silastic ring vertical gastroplasty. Correct me if I'm wrong. Shelley
