Question:
what are the symptoms of intestinal blockage?

Since my surgery on 4-5-01, I've suffered with terrible constipation. I've tried Milk of Magnesia, Benefiber, Senokot, etc. I usually go for a week without a bowel movement, and even then not much of one. My stomach is usually hard and swollen. I took a dose of M.O.M and two enemas yesterday morning with still no results. Just wondering could I possibly have a blockage?    — Shelley P. (posted on August 20, 2002)

I have the same problem.... the worst was for NINE days. Plus severe nausea. Not fun. A couple of things.... are you drinking enough? Eating enough greens, fiber, etc? Too much dairy? Correctol was the only thing that moved it along, but that was awful too. I ended up having a hernia from a previous surgery in which my bowels were going through the hole in my stomach wall. After the hernia repair everything is back to normal (pre-op bowels ;)But that might not be the problem. I would insist that your doctor find out what the problem is though. Good luck! -Shelli (April 18, 2002 lap RNY)

Please make an apt ASAP. My mother had the same problem for so long and did not go to the docotor. Please go. She had such a bad block that her colon ruptured and she was in the hosp for over 6 months (3 of them in ICU). I am not trying to scare you but this is the kind of thing you should not let go unchecked!!!
