I have not met Dr. Hall as of yet, but I have spoken and written to several people who have and I have not heard one bad thing about him!! I have heard that his staff is wonderful and he has performed over 1000 VBG with a 86% success rate over 5 years. I have heard that he is very supportive prior, during, and after surgery. I just love the team approach that he has ,including the same hospital staff: nurses, anesthesiologist, etc. so that you are not just another number on a general post of hospital floor. I trust Dr.Hall and would not consider having surgery anywhere else.
I will update later after surgery to give you guys first hand information on Dr.Hall.

Dr. Hall is a great down to earth kind of guy.He is very knowledgable and cares alot about his patients. He spent 3 hours just talking about the surgery and answering questions. The office staff are great they came to the hospital every day to see how I was and brought movies to watch.Dr. Hall has a great after care program with a monthly support group. He also has a yearly trip for his patients. Dr. Hall was very open and honest about the risks he explained everything in detail.Dr. Hall had a great bed side manner but he was very firm about what he expected to get you better faster. He also is a very competent surgeon. Overall I would recomend him to anyone looking for a surgeon in the Lubbock, TX area.

Dr. David S. Hall, Lubbock Texas was my surgeon. He and his staff are wonderful. I just today returned to my home in Amarillo from having the proceedure done on 12/28!!! I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Hall and his staff. I was instructed to be in Lubbock on Sunday, 12/26. His staff had taken care of every detail! The hotel for 2 nights, and transportation to the consultation and the medical center for myself, my husband, and our 9 year old son was arranged and paid for by his office. Monday morning 12/27/99 I was shuttled off to the Highland Medical Center for preop screening and testing. This included chest x-ray, blood gas testing, lab tests, and a barrium swallow test. His office is adjacent to the Medical Center and I went there for the consultation. I had spoken on the phone with Carol and Cynthia and it was wonderful to meet them in person. Glen Ann was wonderful too! We were given an yummy lunch in the office, followed by introductions to others there for the same reason I was! There was individual time with the psychologist for each person there. Then Dr. Hall met with the group for approximately 5 hours, and THOROUGHLY and METICULIOUSLY went through the ENTIRE proceedure, day by day post-op period while in the hospital, discharge, and post-op instructions and recommendations. Not one shred of information was left out. At first, I found Dr. Hall to be very professional and extremely reserved. I was a bit uncomfortable with his soft-spoken, professional manner in the beginning. I later determined that rather than being hard to "warm up to" or a bit "frosty", he is very soft spoken, concerned, compassionate and quiet by nature. He is very personable, even though quite reserved. Totally opposite from my personality. After his visiting with the group, he saw each person individually in a very thorough examination including history and potential risks to the individual. He does go into great detail at this point with the type of surgery (VBG vs gastric by-pass) that he feels would benefit you the most and why he thinks so. He was great in outlining the risks and complications, including those that were unusual as well as those that he expects with each patient. He answers any and all questions thoroughly and honestly and in a most straight-forward manner. Tuesday 12/28 was surgery day for me! His bedside manner is very comfortable to me by this time, personally, and it is his goal with EVERY ENCOUNTER to make certain you COMPLETELY understand the information he has given you. I found surgery day, and every day thereafter to be EXACTLY as he had described it would be! Dr. Hall sees each patient every day, and Glen Ann sees each patient daily as well. They do not make rounds together, so a person traveling there from another city can look forward to at least 2 nice visitors a day! Aftercare is stressed repeatedly with every encounter you have with Dr. Hall. He has regularly scheduled group support meetings that you are recommended to attend, as well as major emphasis on the food progam you will follow, the liquid intake post-op, and other important facts regarding the post-op aspect of your life and lifestyle. I would have to rate Dr. David S. Hall a grade of 100% in ALL areas. He is so straight forward with you, that you have no qualms regarding his surgical competence, and everything else is fantastic as well. I HIGHLY recommend this doctor to anyone that is even remotely considering ANY weight loss surgery. He has done more than 4000 VBG's in the past 15 years, and is wonderful.
