Dr. Gorospe is very nice. He speaks with such passion about the surgeries he performs and gets excited when telling people how much their life will improve.rnrnHe really makes a bold statement about pre-surgery testing to insure the safest surgery as well as how crucial after care follow up is.rnrnHe did address the risks as most Doc's do, however, he is also very open about his mortality rate. He has performed thousands of surgeries and has lost only 9 patients. He even went into detail on those explaining what happened. I also like the fact that he has an almost non-existent laproscopic to open rate.rnrn

Dr Gorospe and staff---rnrnDr. Gorospe and Joe (Bob) Kirk are two WL surgeons who cares about any overweight person that come to see them regarding baratric surgery. They understands what obesity is doing to America. His office staff are really helpful; they help you from begining til the end on getting an approval. He makes you sign a letter stating that you will do follow ups visits and if anything should happen he wants to see you. At the WL simanar I attended on Sept 9,2006 he explained what you can benefit from having the wl surgery and also what the complications are. He also does more Lap RNY than the Open. He has been very sucessful doing both open and lap. My surgery was on May 30th of 2007 and I cant believe it has almost been 1 year, it has been a very wonderful year as a baratric person. Having this surgery has changed my life and my health. I cant explain enough how good it feels to be a LOSER>>>> instead of a \"gainer\" as long has the rules are followed there will be no re-gaining anything. I would recommend DR. Gorospe or (DR. G) to anyone he is the best weight loss Doctor here in Tulsa, ok...well now Owasso, ok this is where his practice has moved.

Dr. Gorospe is far and above one of the best doctors I have ever met. The devotion he and Dr. Kirk have to their practice, staff, and most importantly their patients is far beyond your expectations. I know I am in very capable and caring hands. I would recommend these two doctors to anyone. Simply the best.

I loved Dr. Gorospe from the moment I met him. I choose him because of the system he has in place to assure the safety of his patients. This is a life changing event and I wanted the person performing my surgery to have a clear understanding of me and know what was need to not only be safe, but also successful. I am also happy with the aftercare program that is in place and there is an established support group in place. I highly recommend Dr. Gorospe.

I was very impressed by seminar I attended for Dr Gorospe. He did come recommended by fellow co-workers who have already had WLS. Gave a very detailed presentation of both options, providing pros and cons. The decision is always left up to the patient to choose which tool will best help them. I had already decided on the lap/RNY after discussing with both my primary care dr and specialist for my diabetes. rnrnLisa has been great.........she let me fax over my approval letter to expedite scheduling since the office move has caused some delays when the case processors decided not to make the move and they are training new person to take over where others left off. Been a bit choatic for her, but a real trooper trying to help in the meantime.

I went to a siminar about surgical weightloss provided by Dr. Gorospe in May 2006. My first intake office visit was on june 2nd 2006-there was a $400 fee due at this time. This fee is non-refundable and is to cover the cost of wirtting the letter of medical necessity and such for the insurance company as well as your initial visit with the doctor.rnMy visit was short. I was taken back to be weighed and a picture taken. The nurse/assistant took some information and all of the forms I had been sent in the mail with all of the medical information I had already filled out. Dr. Gorospe came in for a quick question and answer session.rnThe doctor is a short man with what seemed to me to be a serious but gentle nature. He answered all of my questions quickly and to the point. He explained the surgery requirements and assured me that I did qualify. He also explained how his program works and why it works. He does require 18 months of follow ups with each patient. He not only does the ruen y surgery but implants a \"ring\" of sorts to make sure the opening to your new stomach pouch doesnt get stretched out and let the patient return to there old ways of eating. This method seems to help each individual reach their goals without allowing their body to return to the previous stretched out form and again become obese.rnI was led to believe that Dr. Gorospe is a wonderful doctor with a great sense of humor and an awesome bedside manner. On this first visit I found him to be very straight forward and thorough with his explanation and requirements, but not overly friendly.rnI am hoping that my next visit will be a bit more relaxed. I was very nervous at the time of my first visit but am feeling more confident in my decision to have the surgery and in my choice of surgeon now.rnThere is another fee of $400 for Dr.Gorospe and $200 for Dr. Kirk due 1 month before my surgery date. If this money is not paid the surgery date will not be held. I was told if my insurance paid all cost this money would be refunded to me, at least the $400 for Dr. Gorospe. I am not sure about the \"deposite for Dr. Kirk. Dr. Kirk does have a much bettter bedside manner in my opinion than Dr. Gorospe. It is probably just the fact that we both like motorcycles so we have somting to talk about other than how good or bad I feel today.rnI was lead to believe that complications to WLS are rare. This is not true. I was also led to believe that I would be able to eat the foods I ate before surgery but shouldn't, this also is not true. There area total of 4 people that I know from the same work place and all of us have had some kind of complications.rnI am not convinced this surgery would have been the path I choose if I had to do it again. I have been hospitialized 1 time for 5 days.since my surgery. I was dehydrated & an endoscopy was done to \"stretch\" out the area where my esophogus connects to my \"pouch\". The vomiting continued while in the hospital and after my release. I was very disappointed in Dr. Gorospes office when each time I called to find out what can be done to stop the vomiting I was told \"go to the emergency room\". This was before and after my hospitilization.I have used all my fmla from work and cannot miss or even be late for 90 days or I will be terminated and then have no insurance. Dr. Kirk, he is Dr. Gorospes assistant did meet with me and perscribe some nausia meds for me but this did nothing for the vomiting. I feel like the surgery and after care are very expensive and the docotors staff are not as interested in your health after the surgery as they were before. Just my opinion. I have been told this type of complication doesn't happen very often. I also can no longer eat anything containg wheat, rye, barley, or oats. The information I have found on the internet says this problem can sometimes be caused when the small intestine is irritated such as after surgery. Dr. Kirk and my personal physician both believe it is only temporary and should go away within the next year. Dr. Gorospe said \"there is nothing in the documented medical journals that say this condition was caused by my surgery\". I wasn't implying any mistake on his part and feel he was giving me a line of crap. I dont care what any journal says, I did not have this problem before surgery but do have this problem now. Something caused it. I would think the removal and reattatchment of the small intestine would cause some irratation.rnI strongly advise anyone interested in having WLS to make sure you and your personal physician have gone over what you cannot do after this type of surgery. Dr. Kyra Vineyard has been a god send to me. She has been my doctor for 5 years and has helped me before and after surgery. She does labs and then faxes info to the other doctors so I do not have to have them redone. She works with all my doctors this way and is very proactive in my health and recovery plan.rnDr. Gorospe saw me for my 3 month check up and refered me to another friend of his for another endoscopy. Dr. Ajmur has been working with Dr. Gorospy for almost 30 years and has done many endoscopies for patients refered to him. He was didn't seem overly concerned but wanted to do the endoscopy on the next business day. He also said sometimes the endoscopy along with the stretching I mentioned before will have to be done 2 or 3 times to offer permanant relief. This will be my 2nd. Dr. Gorospes' office did not setup this appointment, I was given a business card and had to make the call to setup a consult then the endoscopy.rn

I have not had much interaction with Dr. Gorospe on a personal level other than my initial consultation which was short. I did listen to him talk in the orientation seminar and was very impressed with his credentials and ability to explain what he was doing (or going to do) and why. He has a morbidity rate that is lower than the national average and is an instructor in laproscopic RNY. He seems to have a tremendous amount of experience and cares greatly about doing things right. After having my surgery, I am more than ever a huge fan of Dr. G's. He is just the sweetest man and thank God for his skill. If not, I would have either not been able to have to surgery or would have had to have an open RNY instead. I have had little to no trouble since the surgery and have complete faith that if I follow his care, I will come through this with flying colors. I got to speak with him more during this part of the process and he is a very sweet, kind, humble, and educated man. I would recommend him to anyone in a heart beat!!!

Dr. Gorospe and Dr. JoeBob Kirk were the surgeons who performed my surgery and I have to say that the two of them know their business and they make sure they know their business. My impression of the both of them has been in the utmost highest regards. If it had to be done all over again they would be the physicians of choice. Their compassion about the work they do and the people they serve is shown through all that they do. The office staff is great at helping you with any problems or questions you might have. Can't think of anything that I did not like about them. They emphasize totally so much on your aftercare and the things that you need to be doing for a healthier life it is so amazing. The risks of surgery were discussed in a seminar that Dr. Gorospe holds once a month and it is a seminar that you must attend before you can get an appointment with the doctor. Overall, I would rate them as very thorough physicians who make sure that all aspects of your physical shape and health are thoroughly examined before you are candidate for the surgery. Both surgical competence and bedside manner are great, but overall the compassion for the work they does is amazing. I was very satisfied with how thorough the doctors were in making sure there were no risks for having the surgery.
