Younan Nowzaradan Bariatric Surgeon M.D.,F.A.C.S.

Dr. N was very nice and extremely knowledgeable about lapband and gastric bypass. I told him my goal to lose 170-200 lbs. byway of the lapband procedure, he informed my I would have an easier and more successful chance with the gastric but if I was dedicated I could be successful with either procedure. He gave me the obesityhelp.com website address and told me to do my own research and let him know which one I was more comfortable with. I followed his advise and made my decision, he supported me and put me at ease about the procedure. I met with his staff and the educated me about life with the band and how my lifestyle would change. They all gave me encouragement about the procedure, the physician, and my new body.

When I first met Dr. Now (as he is affectionately called by many of his patients and staff) I had originally intended to have the Lap Band surgery but he told me that Lap Band was not a good option for me because I had so much weight to lose and that my best option was the RNY Gastric Bypass. This was not what I wanted to hear and so my first opinion was less than stellar. However, after I thought it through I came to the conclusion that he was probably right and so I decided to try and see it through. rn Over the months that followed I realized that this guy really knew his stuff and not only was he an excellent surgeon but he was also somewhat of a pioneer in his field and quite possibly the best bariatric surgeon in the entire Houston area.rn His office staff is just wonderful and so friendly! They can help you with anything that you might need both pre-op and post-op from nutrition and fitness education and advice to support group meetings. Many of them are actually former bariatric surgery patients themselves with firsthand knowledge and insight. Because of this it makes for a fantastic aftercare program and an excellent overall weight loss program that is, in my opinion, second to none!

I love my doctor! He is a man of few words but he knows what he is doing. His office staff is all wonderful and they get excited about your weight loss, the are so happy for you. I give Dr. Nowzaradan 10 out of 10! I would recomend him to everyone! He does not just do your surgery and leave you hanging, he wants to see you after your surgery. He does monthly check-ups and wants to know how your weight loss is going. He is a WONDERFUL person and really cares about his patients!

I KNEW THE MINUTE I MET DR. NOWZARADEN THAT HE WOULD BE THE SURGEON THAT I COULD TRUST WITH MY LIFE. HE IS SO KNOWLEGABLE AND CAREING. EVEN WHEN I HAD SOME COMPLICATIONS HE WAS THERE TO GET ME THROUGH IT ALL. I WAS SO IMPRESSED WITH HIM THAT I CHANGED MY PCP TO HIM. I CANT SAY ENOUGH NICE THINGS ABOUT THIS MAN. I HAVE 2 FAMILY MEMBERS THAT WILL SOON BE ONE OF HIS GASTRIC PATIENTS. HIS OFFICE STAFF IS ALSO VERY COMPETENT AND CAREING AS WELL. HIS SUPPORT GROUP MEETINGS ARE WONDERFULL. I WISH I COULD WALK UP TO EVERY OBESE PERSON I SEE AND SHARE MY TESTIMONY OF THE EXPERIENCE OF ALL OF THIS. My first impression of Dr. Nowzaradan was of his office staff. I have never seen a physician's office operate with such precision. These people knew what they were doing. By the time I met Dr. Nowzaradan, he knew more about me than any surgeon had in any of my previous surgery pre-ops. I had some pre-existing conditions which had to be \"fixed\" before the band would be effective. Also, Dr. Nowzaradan would not consider doing the surgery without clearance from my primary physician, which I appreciated. rnrnDuring my hospitalization, my care was excellent. I have an underlying condition for which I was monitored and treated round the clock, and if there was a problem, the nurses could always reach Dr. Nowzaradan within thirty minutes. I think that is amazing. rnrnHow would I rate this surgeon? Well, he's my gastro guy from now on. I use only the best.rnrnI'd be remiss if I did not mention his right hand, Rosie, in the office. Anyone who has been there knows what I'm talking about.

I was a little nervous. I didn't know him, and I was going to put all my trust in him to perform this surgery on me, if I was going to be lucky enough to have it. It was intimidating not knowing him, or knowing if I would qualify.
My strongest impression of Dr. Nowzaradan was right after my surgery. I felt that was when I would really know his level of skill, and it was amazing. I never really even felt like I had a surgery!
The office staff is great. Wonderful support, friendly, and helpful. Very knowledgable and informative.
There is nothing that I dislike or have problems with.
There is a lot of emphasis on aftercare, even before the surgery. They monitor you, and have further education and support.
The risks of the surgery were addressed upfront, from the first session. It was discussed in my first visit with him as well, and with the patient coordinator.
I would rate Dr. Nowzaradan as a 10 on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the best.
Dr. Nowzaradan doesn't talk much, but he lets you know what you need to know, so his bedside manner is very good. But I would have to say his surgical competence is a 20 on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the best! I honestly cannot tell you how unbelievably easy this surgery has been for me; I have friends who have had this surgery, some right before me. I thought I was in a good position to know what to expect, and how to handle the "discomforts," and was ready for everything. None of these things happened; as they were calling me, some the day of and the day after the surgery, they were asking about some of these things, and I was telling them that maybe these things just hadn't happened yet, but were going to. But they never did!

Dr. Nowzaradan first seemed to be a very cute , sweet older man with the cutest little suspendes holding up his scrubs! That impression did not change. He really is as he appears to be. He is wonderful doctor. He has the ability to inspire confidence in his patients. He is more than willing to answer your questions; and has his own information that you will hear. I think he is a very good surgeon, my husband and I both had open RNY and have had minimal pain and the suture looks really good!
Besides, how can you go wrong with a man that wears suspenders?

My first impression of Dr. Nowzaradan Was that he knew what he was talking about. He anwsered all my question and gave all the information I needed to know about the sugery. He and the office staff are wonderful. They treat me like I am there only patient everytime I am there. After my surgery he was right by my side, as soon as he put me in a room he was there as well. Now as I am healing I can not get over how good of a job he did with my sutures. It looks as if I did not even have the surgery at all. Even in his aftercare I am getting the same great service. I must thank him and his staff for being so great. I am not sure what I would have done without them.
