Topic: RE: Time for a roll call folks
I am currently on a stall, the first one that I know about. I am not quite 1/2 way yet but I am working on it.
Even though I say I on stall....I am losing inches! I am finally allowed to be up and moving around so I am getting some muscle instead of fat cells. But I will start losing again....soon I hope

Wondering how my fellow March buddies are doing this week. How much have you lost so far. Have you ran into any stalls along the way.
I have now lost 51 lbs. 1/2 of my excess weight. Yippie. I have had 3 stalls along the way that lasted 7 to 10 days. Currently I am losing about an average of 2 lbs per week. What about you?

Topic: RE: Am I losing too slow?
I started out at 5'1 weight 223. I have lost 51 lbs now. I know there are several people on the board that have lost a lot more then me but I am losing it slow and steady. Sounds to me like you are doing great.

Well thanks, I definitely feel a lot better - physically and emotionally. And I wish I ran 2 miles in 15 minutes. I run at a 15 minute/mile pace, so for me 2 miles = 30 minutes. Not exactly an olympic record!! I did run almost 3 miles yesterday. Still slow, but a little more stamina. Oh, by the way, I looked at your virtual model and made one of my own. It is super fun! Man, are we gonna look good!
Topic: Am I losing too slow?
Ok. I started at 298, I am 5'3". I have lost about 63 lbs since my lap RNY on 3/20/07. I am seeing that a lot of you guys with similiar surgery dates have lost a lot more than me. I am not eating anything that I shouldn't (of course, I haven't been absolutely perfect... I have sampled things I shouldn't, but not eating bad things on a regular basis).
I am not exercising other than swimming several times a week, in our pool & not lap swimming, just playing. I know exercising would help, but is that what you guys who are losing so fast are doing differently?
Help. Thanks. Jenifer

Hi Wendy,
Today is my first day posting here as well. .. I usually post at a different website.
ANYWHO. . . . You asked what you might be doing wrong. . probably nothing. Our bodies work at different speeds in losing the weight. You will be at the same place as every one else in 2 years time :). That is the important thing.
However, I saw you get about 1,000 calories a day. I don't get anywhere near that. . . I eat between 400 and 550 a day. That includes my liquid protein--which I drink mostly :).
If you feel you are having problems, you could easily try a liquid protein train for a couple days. That is basically drinking protein drinks for a few days. I am actually doing that right now. I started today and I'm hoping to do 3-4 days. I'll get there and see how I do from that. I haven't stalled yet, but I noticed myself just blah, so I wanted to shake it up a bit.
My favorites are protein bullets (42g protein each), elite chocolate mint, elite chocolate. . . those are what I drink right now. Before surgery, I loved some of the nectars--green apple, carribbean cooler, twisted cherry, but right now, they are too much for me, so I stick to some of the other stuff.
Just an idea to beat that plateau you might be on. . . plus, it also reinergerizes your body and helps detox you of all the carbs and such. It's a great idea :).

It is fun--isn't it?
I have lost 70 pounds and people can't believe the changes.
I have people telling me--wow--you actually dress different now. I always tried to dress stylish, but I was wearing things to try to "hide" myself. . . Now, I prefer wearing dresses that show my figure and such. I still have 40 pounds to go until goal, but I feel so much better about myself :).
I went home and saw everyone for the first time since Christmas. . . way before my surgery. People couldn't believe the changes, so that made me feel really good :).
Topic: RE: Hair loss
PROTEIN :). I get at least 100 grams of protein a day. I drink 2-3 shakes a day--usually 1 or 2 protein bullets (42g each) a day. I strive for everything with protein in it :).
I will 4 months on March 19 and my hair has actually grown and gotten thicker :). When I went in for my 3 month check up at the surgeon's, they were impressed how much better my hair looked since before surgery.
IN fact, they had put me on ZINC to help minimize the hair loss, but I quit taking it because the protein itself seemed to be doing the trick :).
So, you can always add zinc into your list of vitamins/calcium to take. . . it's a pretty small pill to take.
I know I am coming to the beginning of the "phase of hair loss", so hopefully I don't have any problems. I have hope though with all the new growth I am having :).
I hope you can figure it out so that you don't keep losing your hair. . .
Topic: RE: Eating Out
When eating out, I have a few standby choices. .
Taco Bell, I eat the pinto's & cheese. . I always bring 3/4 of it home. I add mild sauce to it to make it pretty thin :).
Ruby Tuesday's--the AWESOME white bean chili
WEndy's--chili
Mexican--I eat some beans. . . can't eat many of them, but add a little of the homemade salsa in it.
Logan's I eat the chili
Frisches--I eat the chili
Places that have absolutely NOTHING for me--I'll tear off a tiny piece of DH's hamburger meat with cheese on it. . .
I always carry protein bullets in my purse and car, so if I'm somewhere they have nothing I can eat, I'll order a water and pour my bullet in there.
I don't eat any carbs. . whether it be veggies, potato's, fruit, bread, cereal, pasta. . . none of it. I just don't feel it's a healthy choice for me. . . :)
