Hey Pam, Good for you in making your health a priority. I wasn't sure that you could still have acid reflux post rny. Hopefully being back on the Prevacid will help. Also, glad that you got your B-12 shot. I'm sure Lisa can tell you how to get the Nascobal. When I had my 1 year bloodwork, they took 6-7 vials, too! What's up with that??? I was very curious about my bloodwork as well, since I changed from Viactiv calcium chews to Citracal creamy bites. I've been taking 1000-1500 g of calcium/day depending. I was glad to see everything come back clear. Hopefully yours will come back just fine! Have a great rest of your day! Hugs, Kerri

I still need to lose some before considering it, and I want to be finished having kids (if we can) before having any ps done. A size 4/5~ that's awesome!! Sorry to hear about the divorce. That must be really difficult. I'll be keeping you in my prayers. Hugs, Kerri

Hi Mary Jo~ It was so great to see you post again, it seems like it's been a long time!! Sorry to hear about the tough times...money issues are such a drag, let alone an injury to your daughter. I'm so happy for you for you reaching your weight loss goal. Just make sure you are eating enough. I think we have to work as diligently on that as we did on losing the weight itself. It doesn't take long for health issues to arise when we aren't taking care of ourselves, and sometimes even when we are!! I look forward to reaching that stage, but I still have about 38 lbs. to go to be where I want. Life for me has been crazy~ I just got back from Oregon a couple of days ago after going to my 20 year high school reunion. The greatest compliment people kept saying was that I look just like I did in high school. Most of them never saw me heavy, since I didn't really gain weight until I was in my late years of college. Boy, if they only knew!! My reunion was after a previous family reunion and church reunion, all on consecutive Saturdays, so I'm kinda pooped. Hubby and I celebrated my birthday yesterday, with a party planned for Sunday. I think I'll just be glad when all is over so that I can finally rest for a little while. Congratulations again on your successes~ you have accomplished soooo much over the course of this last year! Keep your chin up... I'm praying that the perfect job will come your way soon! Hugs, Kerri

Hi Pam~ Sounds like your life has been really crazy!! I've missed seeing you on the boards. Sorry to hear about the tough stuff...work, B-12, tummy, etc. But, I'm thrilled to hear that you are going to be meeting some OH gals this weekend. How fun for you!! Try not to wait until your tooth starts hurting before getting it fixed. The pain can be awful. Also, it won't take long for the lack of B-12 to catch up with ya! I liked Lisa's idea for the nasal B-12. I've been taking the sublinguals since surgery and am okay with those, but if I ever need to switch, that sounds like a great alternative. I can't wait to see your new pics. Let us know as soon as they are up! I just celebrated my 38th birthday yesterday. Hubby and I had a fun time at the beach, going back to where we got engaged. It was great to see how much easier it was to walk around town and on the beach. I wasn't exhausted going up the stairs~ a miracle in and of itself! We have an adoption info meeting tomorrow, and will be trying for our own biological children after I've completed the 1/2 marathon in October. We'll see what doors God opens up. Come back soon and keep posting...we miss ya! Hugs, Kerri

Topic: Went to the Doc today
Well I KEPT my day off all to myself! Even left my cell phone at HOME. I went to the doc and discussed all my problems. 1. The pain in the pouch. Been having pain in my pouch when it's empty here lately. Oddly, it makes me crave warm "milky" drinks...or junk - seems like when i eat meats I can only get a few bites and it hurts.... even decaff coffee makes it hurt. So we discussed my history with heartburn. I had HORRIBLE heartburn pre-op - even developed barrett's esophagus from it and was on twice the maximu dose of Prevacid before my rny. It was so bad that they wanted to wrap my stomach around my lower esophagus to try to prevent more acid from coming up in my throat. WELL since my RNY, i haven't had ANY heartburn. No acid reflux at all. It has been wonderful! Here's the thing..... that doesn't mean it's gone!!! Now that my stomach is bypassed, there is no bile mixed in with the stomach acid - so the feeling of heartburn may not be what I remember it being. That being said - we discussed other symptoms, such as phlem in the throat, having to clear my throat alot, scratchy voice... all signs that I am still dealing with stomach acid issues. So, she put me back on prevacid for now. We'll see how it goes. 2. BLOOD WORK. They took SIX tubes of blood from me. My poor arm actually stopped spewing blood and just barely dripped in the last two tubes. I thought she was gonna have to stick me again! Seriously, I got lightheaded and all my nail beds went sheet WHITE. She thinks my B12 is low and that's what causing all my tiredness and brain fog - and possibly low iron because of my recent plastics. The blood work will tell. She gave me a B12 shot. I ASKED FOR NASCOBAL - but SHE NEVER HEARD OF IT!! AUGH!! My results should be in next week. I'm so nervous about my results this time. The last time, I was low on B12, Vit D and folate. They told me if my Vit D comes back low again, I have to go to a specialist. This sucks because I just know my results are not going to be good just by the way I've been feeling. NOW - ABOUT THAT NASCOBAL: How do i get it??? Do I need a prescription?? I can't believe this doctor has never heard of it! I'm gonna have to call my surgeon to ask for it. The sublinguals do not work for me...and I just don't have time to go in for monthly shots. Now, if I could only get my a@! in to the dentist!! Hugs, Pam

HEY PAM! what crazies in your life... want to touch base with you on few topics on your post. YOUR not getting your b12 shots in you mentioned. I know myself and SHELLEY are both useing the nasal NASCOBAL and are finding it gives us so much energy...and we dont have to find time to get into the doctor to do. IF you check out the mfg's website they reimburse copays. WORTH checking into.....!!!!! DONT want you falling asleep while driving. NOW on to ULCEr...as you know i was scoped end of JULY and ULCER was found. UNFORTUNATELY mine was having a bleed thats how we discovered it. BUT if I look back over the months i definitely had warning signs that i ignored. I had an odd pain in my stomach ( usually when empty) so i always learned when I got this i had to eat...now my mistake was being i had this from early out was this was my hunger...feeding it made it feel better. DROP me an email or PM and we can discuss this more... but i also had foods that didnt sit in my pouch also which were indications of ulcer! GO FIGURE. I am on nexium now and guess what i dont get that pain...now i have to break eating habits...thats why i was alway needy to eat the mini meals alot thru a day was to ease the uneasy pain in my pouch. Well glad you updated us! AND im waiting for the new pics with a new hairstyle. I am battling blues being i cant seem to loose weight and im eating to much now scares me to death. hugzzzz lisa

Hi Diane! I have struggled like everyone else on this board in the past 3-4 months. Boy, my appetite came back big time!! At least I knew that I wasn't alone in this struggle. The support here has been tremendous. I am thankful for having the OH website and the people here. It's getting scary now because I am so close to my goal. Losing it was a life long struggle but maintenance, OMG a whole new experience. Am I going to make it? I have to believe in myself that I will do it. Camping and with your grandchildren will keep you active and use up a lot of energy and calories. Thanks for your response. Wishing you continued success as well. Hugs and Kisses, Lucy
