Topic: A Day Early, Happy 2nd Year Surgianniversary!!
Wow, where has the time gone? Two years ago, we were just about to start our journey with WLS. At this time, 2 years ago, I started drinking my special pre-op drinks that boosted my immune system. I remember the first time I tasted it. YUKKY!! But soon, I developed a taste for it and enjoyed drinking them. The anticipation I was experiencing, words can't express how I felt. I was happy, scared, excited and worried all at the same time. In my heart I knew that I made the right decision. I've tried all diet programs, lost weight, gain weight, lost weight... you know the routine. I landed up fatter everytime. I hated myself and was depressed. I knew that I was killing myself slowly with food. I knew that I didn't want to live my life like that anymore. I missed out on so much in my life. No husband and no children. Didn't go on vacations much because I didn't want people to make fun of me and at my highest weight, walking was difficult. Most of you know my story and it's on my profile. I can say two years later, that I made the right decision and haven't regretted it. Life is so much better now. Yes, I am struggling with appetite issues, but I am still successful. I want to wish everyone a very Happy and Healthy 2nd Year Surgianniversary! We have been together, sharing our achievements and disappointments here on this board. We are a very special family! I am thankful for each and every one of you. There have been many times that I have been down and the support on this board has been wonderful. As our anniversary month is almost here, I hope that everyone shares their experience and feelings on their anniversary day. I know that I will on June 8th! I will be seeing my WLS surgeon on my anniversary. It is indeed time for us to celebrate our new life! Congratulations to everyone! We DID IT! Hello everyone! I'm sorry I haven't been on here much at all lately. I'm all healed up from surgery two months ago and rolling full steam ahead into LIFE!! I'm LIVING it! I''m so very happy and doing well. Still trying to gain since being sick - I need to put back on about 15 pounds I think. But if there's anything I DO know how to do, it's gain weight! lol ... so no problem. I just hope I can stop myself! It's 2 in the morning....so I'm not going to upload the pictures to my profile yet... in the meantime... I posted pics celebrating 2 years since wls (ok a week early) on my myspace page: www.myspace.com/shrinkingdiva If you are not already on my friends list - click "add me" and we will have an additional route of communication. much much love & hugs, Pam

I hadn't even thought about that! It could be really sore around there too, I still am numb and get weird sensations sometimes around there. I am really self concious about everything right now, not just scars. I keep thinking something else will make me look better! I think I will wait awhile and see. Nice to hear from you and thanks for the advice! Wendy

He is wonderful! Yeah, I had the iron problem slow me up for two months, but it was worth the wait, my iron was low enough that I could have not walked out of the surgery the first time! They put me on prescription iron right away. I would go to your pcp and ask them if they think you need the higher iron. You can't really get any good iron over the counter. Also ask how low your iron is. Anything under 11 is getting risky with surgery coming up. Good luck on everything and thanks for your opinion. I do think I will wait. Wendy

Hey Stranger! DON'T MESS WITH THE SCAR YET! You totally need to wait for it to heal. You only had surgery a few months ago. Talk to your plastic surgeon and I am sure he/she will say the same. It takes time for it to heal and if you use the different scar medications (I use scar guard) it will help it lighten up quicker! I had my TT 3 months ago and my scar is starting to look much much lighter already! Hope all is well!!!! Ilyssa

Hi! I come back and lurk.......Life just gets in the way sometimes! I have exceded my expectations on weight loss. I have lost a total of 218 pounds. I now weigh 120 pounds. My goal was 130 so I am uner! My doctor is not happy that I am so low and that I still am losing (a little bit). I was forced to promise not to go under 124...woops! But I do hope that I am done losing! I am unable to eat most foods. I am pretty much strickly a vegetarian. Not by choice either! I can eat turkey but am soooo tired of eating it. I have f/f cottage cheese with pineapple for breakfast......and sometimes a salad with cheese crumbles for supper...other times I don't bother. I usually eat some fruit in the evening.........I am no way getting all my protein in anymore....but I feel good! That is the important part.....and believe it or not my labs all came back good! I hope that everyone is feeling great! Enjoy the weekend! Sue 328/ goal 130/ current 120

Your husband sounds like a great guy! I personally would not mess with the scar. Give it time to fade and heal. By the way, I'm scheduled for plastic surgery - arms, breast, and lipo outer thighs- on June 15th. I'm having a lot of anxiety about it. My regular surgeon said my iron was getting low the last time I had my bloodwork, yet did not change my medication from just Flintstones & calcium. I'm starting to worry that I'm going to find out the day of surgery that my iron is too low and that I won't be able to have surgery that day. Didnt that happen to you??? Heck, I dont even know what to start taking. Any ideas? Dawn
