My surgery is scheduled 8-4-03 & I'm getting really nervous. Being a nurse, I know what goes on in the OR and all the possible problems. I ALWAYS wake up vomiting after general anestheisa. I certainly hope I don't this time. I need encouragement and prayers.

Karen congratulations on your surgery date!! Whenever you get to feeling down about this whole process just remember why you began this journey. I'm sure you will do fine. Best of luck and I hope that you have a speedy recovery.

Congrats! We have the same surgery date! I am having the Lap RNY on 8/6 as well. I just started getting anxious last night. I am trying to keep a slim picture of me in my mind to keep the butterflies away! I just keep telling myself what my surgeon said in the inital information meeting. He said that most people can still eat anything they want, just in smaller amounts. I have heard so many stories of people having their "last meal." Dr. Grant said that is a myth and just a source of mental anguish and not to put ourselves through that. He is really great! I will be eager to hear from you after surgery to comapre "war" stories!! GOOD LUCK!

Hi! I am having mine done on the 19th and I know what you mean about the nerves. I am having a hard time with all the negative people coming up with horror stories, etc. How about you? Also, I'm feeling a little panicked about the things I won't be able to eat, so I am bad about having a "last" this and that. Try to think of all the positives, like the things you will be able to do that you can't now, the compliments you will get, etc. Good Luck!

I also was scheduled for 8/4 but mine was rescheduled for 2 wks later 8/19. You will be feeling great by the time I go in for mine! Good Luck!

Topic: Surgery date change from 8/4 to 8/8 :(

My sugery date was changed from Monday the 4th to Friday the 8th.

I'm bummed but I guess it could be worse. I'm back to 9 days to go. It sooo messed up my family's schedule. I almost didn't have a ride down to Modesto. Oh well now we just have to leave at @ 2:00 in the morning the day of surgery to make sure I'm there by 6:00.
