Topic: Tomorrow's the DAY!
I have not been too good at keeping my profile up! Tomorrow is my surgery date! I am very nervous and scared! Kinda ironic how all I have talked about the past year is this surgery and now I am questioning myself if this is the right thing to do! I would appreciate everyones thoughts and prayers tomorrow! I will update when I get home! THANKS! Tracy

I pray that you have as easy a time as I had with my surgery. I knew another WLS member who had Dr. Fast and she has done very well. You are staying at the "Hilton" of all hospitals and the nurses are so caring. The only advice I can give you is in the hustle bustle of trying to get ready for surgery, take some time to "quiet" yourself and prepare your spirit for surgery. That was advice which was given to me and very important. I am only three weeks post-op but already feeling the rewards of WLS. The best of everything to you!

Sounds like you've never had surgery before? I've had four abdominal surgeries and am not a bit worried about it. Try to get in this mode: let the highly trained people do their best to take care of you - with a good attitude about making their job easier - you'll do fine. Let go....and let God! Enjoy the compassionate people that will help to make your hospital time easier. Think about them...seems to help take the mind off your own pain and suffering!! - Kathy (open DS on aug. 26th in Rochester, Minnesota)

I'm having open DS at Mayo in Rochester, Minnesota, on the 26th! Like you, I can't wait to start a healthier life - what are you doing to kill the time - it goes by soooooooooo slowly!! You'll do fine (I've had four abdominal surgeries)just put your faith (and your bod!) in their hands and trust them to take care of you! Let go...and let God!! - Kathy in Iowa

Christy - You are so lucky to have had a smooth road - I've had the rollercoaster but am set for August 26th, also. I'm having a hard time concentrating at work - I wish I could take the next week and a half off! I would like to clean my house really well and prepare food ahead. Dreamin' !! My next two weekends will be busy with family get-togethers because my birthday is the 19th. So that just leaves the workdays to get through - and I'm not busy enough at work these days to help. Okay, enough complaining - it's all busy mind work at this point! ha! I've shopped - new underwear, bras, and robe and slippers....packed my bag even!! How are you killing the time? I'm having surgery (open duodenal switch) at Mayo in Rochester, Minnesota. That's a three-hour drive from my home in Iowa - but I feel I'm going to the best place I can! Do you have to travel far? Write back if you have time....we will have this in common for the rest of our lives!! - Kathy
