Topic: HAPPY ANNIVERSARY 8/30's :)
Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy!!
Congratulations and Happy 1 year anniversary
I hope all of you are as happy with your 1 year results as I am with mine and have met all your goals and expectations, be them weight related or not!
Wishing you all the very best and wanted to say a huge thank you for the immense impact you have all had in my life (and you didn't even know it I bet!) We've all had our questions, our concerns, are silly stories and our important goals and have shared them through and through. THANK YOU FOR THAT. You all made me feel normal in a world that cast me as "abnormal" based on size and weight...Thank you so very much for that. I am happy to report that I met my 1year anniversary goal and weigh 134lbs (my goal was to be 135).
Post your results, your thoughts, your blogs, anything relating to your 1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION! Wish you all the best and know we're all here for each other.
Take care and happy re-birthday

Hi everyone!!!
YOU ALL are doing GREAT!
What a year this has been for us, what a ride.
I just got back from my surgeon, and I am down 121 pounds, and 113 inches. This is excellent since I did not exercise due to a MVA just before the surgery, and I am still being treated for it. I have had no complications, and I don't dump.
I will be going for bloodwork to make sure my labs are good. I take 1500 ml. of Calcium Citrate with Mag and Vit D, and 2 Flintstone completes per day. I tried the Biotin, and took it for a long time when my hair started to fall out, but it has slowed down alot. I don't know if the Biotin helped, or the time out from surgery did. I do have Hypothyroidism, so I lose hair anyway certain times of the year. I went from a size 26/28 jeans to a size 14, and a 28/30 blouse to a 14. I carried my weight all over, and I am losing it the same way. I really need some nips and tucks, especially in the bust and arm area. My bust was always big, and they still are, but now they are empty....lol To measure myself I am a 36 B, but to fit it all in, I am a 38 D. Still a far cry from a 48DD.
Here are my stats:
Starting weight---301
Goal weight---164
Current weight lost---121
Total weight to lose---137
Percentage of weight lost---88%
My best WOW moment was, and still is, when people don't know who I am. I now call this a game I play called "Stump the People".....I LOVE IT!
I have found hunger is creeping up on me, especially at night. The PA said to be sure I drink at least 64oz. of water, and get all my protein in. He also said to up my fiber.
I know I lost alot of weight, but still see a super heavy person when I look in the mirror. I am not sure if that ever goes away. To me I look the same as before. When I get dressed and hold up the clothes I am going to wear, in my mind I still say "that will never fit", but it always does. I still have my "FAT" clothes, maybe I am in fear that I may need them again, and I am afraid to part with them. Then again, if I part with them, that part of my life is over, and really that is not a bad thing. I guess I am one who is leary of change, and afraid to let things go.
I wish you all the best and continue success. Remember this tool will keep working for us if we keep working the tool !

I'm still struggling with my diet. As everyone mentions, those carbs go down a lot easier than protein. With the exceptions of dairy & doughy things. (which is foretunate for me) I miss icecream, pizza and bagles so much but I don't miss the stuggle it was to move like 'normal' people. HAve a good one.

Just wanted to post today is my one year WLS anniversary. I've surpassed my goal and had plastic surgery all before my first year. My starting goal was 229 when I began researching WLS the day of surgery I was 226 wearing size 18/20. Today I'm 115 wearing size 0. I had a tummy tuck July 20th and even with the swelling I'm still wearing a zero. I'm working on maintaining this size. I'm thankful for AMOS and all the support that I have received from this message board and others. I just wanted to share my joy with you.
Peace and blessings.

I am doing great! I feel great! In the past month I have gotten so much attention, I almost don't know how to deal with it. When I started my journey I was wearing a size 22/24 which were tight. Now I am wearing a 6p very soon to be a 4p. The 6s are getting loose. I notice it doesn't take long to go down a size now maybe 5-7 pounds a size. I have 12 pounds left to get to goal. I was hoping to be in the 120s by today...............but I am still very happy with my loss. I am only 5 pounds away from a normal BMI, I can't wait to have a normal BMI. I have never had a normal BMI my whole life so it is very exciting to me. I have been meaning to take pictures so probably sometime this week I will have some updated pics.
Congrats to all the August 30th and 31st babies! We made it

Hey K.
Still here too!
I can relate with what you are saying. I am certainly not near my goal weight. I am happy with my loss of 140lbs. I havent lost any weight in weeks now, but I still follow my routine. I look at pictures and see a difference, but I look in the mirror and my head hasnt caught up with my body yet. It is easy following my new habits now that its been a year, however, I am so tempted to eat what I shouldnt because I know I wont get sick now. I havent yet tried anything fried, anything with added sugar, or fast foods, but the lure is pulling me harder. I wont give in (at least not today). One day at a time! I cant imagine how horrible I would feel if I gained my weight back, so that is for sure my biggest fear.
Thanks for asking.
Sue

Hi Susan,
I am still having problems with some pain getting better week by week. Mostly due to ulcers ( a new one formed!) and constrictuers...but now only needing ENDO every 4-6 months instead of every 6 -8 weeks! YEAY! I had thought ( and was told) my diabites would be "cured" but not true.. I am on less insulin. but still need it at least for now.
My weight loss has been slow and seems to have come to a halt... but this past week I have been working real hard to get more weight lost. I have a dress I want to wear to a friends wedding and it is a 8. It fits but could fit better minus a few more pounds. I love using www.FITDAY.COM to help keep track of everything. I am not so good at getting the protien. I still will vomit with eggs and chicken/turkey..... MILK can cause more problems.. I really miss my MILK!
Exerzise has been hard as I have developed Asthma related to exersize! go figure and I tore a muscle in my shoulder.
Overall I do feel GREAT and would do this all over again. My Hubby and kids love the newer me, but my family ( sisters and such) are not so happy. They have always compared them selves to me and their jealousy is boiling over. But that is how they always have been.
I loved my MD. but had to move a few months ago and really miss the support team of that program.
1). Pre op weight -------- day of surgery 202.5 /day one of program 217
2). Goal weight ------ MD's 120 ..... mine 110 ( I am just under 5 feet TALL! )
3). Current weight loss ---- 135 bouncing daily to 140 62 -- to 67 pounds lost. from size 22 to size 10/8 ( 8's with a belly roll I cant hide.)
I didn't measure inches... BMI is now at 27 I think it was 35 not sure.. I had the surgery because of the health problem I had. My MD's have been asking me to consider it for close to three years. The wake up call was when a neighbor, also diabetic and a year or two younger than me died of a stroke.
I am hoping that by the 18 month mark I will be at MY GOAL of 110 and my stomach problems wil be ALL healed.
So how is everyone else doing?
Lisa
PS not sure why this say RNY on 10/01. cause I had my RNY on 8/30/04

Still here!
I know what you mean - now is the hardest part!
I guess I've met half of my goals, but I'm also really happy about where I am. 95 lbs down so far, from 253 to 158, and size 24 to size 10! Very nice, "thank you, Dr Ali!" And I met the Dr's goal to lose 75% of my excess body weight.
Still haven't met the 100 lb mark yet though - 5 more lbs to get there, and my final goal is 140 - 18 more lbs to get there. The support and information from all our friends here have really made it a good exerience.
My only fear now is slipping back to old habits. Even so, I find it much easier to eat well than it ever was before. Pictures of myself now are MUCH easier to look at than my old fat self! So, my new identity is much easier to live with than the old one.
So enjoy your new identity, and make all the changes good ones! Sounds like you're doing great! Congrats on the 115 lb loss!
Blessings!
Jill
