It is my one year surgery anniversary!
It was one year ago today that I went under the knife for the first time in my life. I had a gastric-bypass. In the past year I have learned things about myself that I never thought possible. So are good things. Like damn my ass look really fine in a size 16/18 pair of pants and now I adore attention from certain butch types. And, other things not so good, such as the attention I get from men when I walk down the street and the consent battle that woman have to endure day in and day. But, because, I was a big, bald, fat dyke I never really had to deal with such details. It has been an amazing journey. I have lost a total of 130 pounds in a year. My weight is somewhat steady now but I am still slowly losing. I now look forward to meals without dreading the fact that I am going to choice the wrong thing at ever single moment. I feel great now that I can wear heels again and my feet are not killing me by the end of the day. Now I even ENJOY working out. It has been truly amazing. I am blessed. But, of course this does not come without a price. Gastric bypass is not the easy road that everyone thinks it is. I am preaching to the chore with some of you. But, with others understand that for someone who gets over 300, 400, and 500 pounds most the time it is not just the fact that they are fat and lazy. Most fat people have to do double or triple the amount of work a small person does just to "prove" themselves to society. The rules we have setup for being thin is disgusting. We should not have to be thin to be happy. We should have be healthy to be happy.
So, here I am a year later... and so much more happy and only because I am healthier. Thank you everyone for your support.

I know I'm a little late, but here goes! I am almost 3 months pregnant now, so I won't hit my goal weight for quite some time
As long as baby's healthy, I don't care! I haven't gained any weight since becoming pregnant (we found out on the 4th of July); I've actually lost 3-4 lbs! Everything's going well though. No complaing except it's been very hard trying to get in the 2000 calories my OB/GYN wants me to get in!!
Starting weight- 284
1 Year weight- 170
Total weight lost- 114
At Goal? Doc never set a goal, mine was 150
Inches lost- Don't know, didn't keep up with inches
Starting BMI- 44.5
1 Year BMI- 26.6
Clothing at Start- 24 jeans and 26/28 tops (ugh!)
1 year clothing- was in 11's and 13's in jeans and M-L tops pre-preg
Changes in medications- NO Protonix!
Exercise? Not since getting pregnant :/
I feel really good at a year out! Never thought I'd be pregnant and due the day before my bday! (March 11
)

Long time no post but as my 1 year anniversay approaches...Tomorrow.... I thought I'd visit. This trip has been amazing. This site has given me so much valuable info and encouragement. Last year I was 280 this year I'm 155. I hoped to be at 140 so I still have a few more to go. They are just numbers so I'm not concerned. And once I remove all this wonderful skin I'll be there.
I run 2 miles 5X a week. I'm healthy and happy.
It is so nice to hear my husband complain that I'm too boney! That, I never even dreamed would happen.
I still see myself as FAT....Although I did have a wide eye awakening when I put then and now picture together. I only felt like I had lost like 20 pounds and the photos let me see the new me.
Good luck to all the pre-ops.
Thank you everyone for supporting this site.

Dear Sondra, Lynn and Barbara,
Thank you so much for writing and telling me your stories. It is strange how this works, but it sure makes you feel better somehow to know that someone else is in the same place you are. It's HARD!
I have an old high school classmate I found on this site. We weren't close in school (HUGE school) but we've chatted a few times. She had her surgery in May of 2004 and started about where I did. She's now at 164 or so... ONE SIXTY FOUR! The woman has lost about 200 pounds in 15 or 16 months! It's incredible!
I really need to "get serious" and buckle down, get back to basics (more protein, etc). Sigh. It sucks that I'm STILL going to have to "be on a diet" the rest of my life! LOL - Does ANYONE in this world actually eat what they want and not have to worry about it???????

Vanessa,
You look STUNNING. Congratulations! You're right... I just need to "buckle down" and get back with the program.
Kim
PS... Congratulations on your hard-earned MBA!

You're right, Lisa - without the surgery, I KNOW I wouldn't have been able to lose 135 lbs... and the boat WOULD HAVE crashed down to the sea floor with me in it. Thanks for your encouragement.

Dear Kim
I know how you feel. I am feeling the same way you do I had hoped to be at or below 200 by now but I am not.
I am happy with my loss as of now but I would like to loose more.
I am trying to stay away from old eating ways but I love to eat I just need to eat the right things.
I have lost about 135 also
I was 381 and now I am 245 or 250 I am going to keep trying and so should you but it is not easy some people I talk to started at the the point i am at now when I see them I get sad because they are at 130 or 140 I wish that was me but it is not so I will keep going and try to get below 200
Lynn
