Tanya,
I am 12 days post-op (surgery 8/1) and am just as excited as you. I too am an RN and will be returning to work on 8/15. I am ready to get back to a normal life now.
Not to mention getting away from the house so that I can qui****ching the scale, so to speak:-D
Congratulations on your weight loss! I know how good you feel! I was down 18 at my post-op visit. I continue to thank God every day for allowing me this opportunity to change my life around.
Keep up the good work!!

Topic: RE: Surgery postponed
Awwwwww, Sweetie -- I am soooooo very sad to hear this for you.
I can only begin to imagine how you are feeling....and I know how disappointing this has to be and I am sorry! BUT, let's keep positive and strong thoughts here....you don't need to be exposed to an "illness" from some person on your surgical team as you need to be in the best of health for a quick recovery so you can begin your new healthy life! AND just think with a few extra days prior to surgery you can get some additional exercise/walking in so you can be even stronger during your recovery.
Just remember your August support buddies are here for you no matter which day becomes your re-birth!
Keep us apprised of your new date! Candy

I had my gallbladder removed too...even though my surgery was extended another hour, it made it worth it. At least now we can go about focusing on healing the right way with nothing stopping us!

Awww, Heather...
I'm so sorry you had your date yanked on you like this at the last minute. The same thing happened to me last month, and I know how deflating it can be. On the brighter side, I truly believe that everything happens for a reason, and that God does things in his own time.
I'm sending prayers of strength and comfort to you. I'm praying that your new surgery date goes off without a hitch!
Topic: Home - Feeling Great!
I came home from the hospital late Thursday evening, and I can't say enough about my doctor and her surgical staff. She prayed with my husband and I before we went into surgery, and I truly believe that God was watching over us. My surgery went long, because my doctor checked around while she was in there, and found a sizable cyst on my gall bladder.
She removed the gall bladder while performing my lap rny, so my surgery took longer than expected. Instead of adding more incisions to get to the gall bladder, she spent more time, and used the incisions from my rny, so I still only have 5 incisons.
She gave me a picture of the growth. I can't believe something that big was on my gall bladder, and I didn't know it. I would have occassional stabbing pains in my side, but I just assumed they were nothing, and never mentioned them. The results of the biopsy came back yesterday, and the growth was benign, PRAISE GOD! She said that my gall bladder was also inflamed.
So, I believe that this surgery was not only a life saving intervention because of my weight, but also for the gall bladder surgery. I knew there was a reason my surgery was put off by a month!
