Hi Dea! Welcome to the September '04 baby board! Glad you found us! I love right outside Washington, DC, work PT, and have a 19 year old son who's a soph in college and an 8 1/2 year old daughter. (oh yeah, and a husband . . . not enough time to discuss that one . . . ) I had my surgery 5 days after you, I'm down 120 lbs and want to lose about 12 more to be in the "normal" BMI range. I exercise alot, 45 minutes on the elliptical most days and I'm swimming 2x a week this summer. Maybe you can explain how I put my photo up with my profile???? XO, Sandy

Angie - Your post was a kick in the #%& that I needed today. I believe that everything happens for a reason. I read your post today for a reason. If I'd read it Friday instead I would've blown it off. I've been lax with my protein and vitamins, especially on the weekends. I got a B-12 shot last night at our support group meeting and it was 2 weeks late. I took protein and vitamins to work with me today and vowed to do better and after reading your post I was reminded in an important way of the urgency of consistency! Why am I slacking off? Probably because I am a victim of my own success. Do you know what I mean? I've lost 120 pounds, I'm wearing adorable size 10s and everyone is telling me how great I look. But what's going on inside of me--I had this surgery to reach a state of great health for myself, my kids, etc., that good health will not happen if I don't put myself first and take my protein and my vitamins. Thanks for the badly needed reminder, I'm back on track! XO, Sandy

Hi Amy! Nice to hear from you! You and I have similar losses, I have lost about 120 as well and my surgery was 2 days before yours. I'm so happy for you and all your success. Do you ever feel like the last 10 months have gone by in a blur? This is going to sound weird but I don't feel like I have been as conscious of the weight loss as I should be. I'm so busy with family, the kids, work, school, all of life's obligations, that it seems like the weight loss has just "happened." Not that I haven't been super disciplined because I have, it's just that my discipline has become my way of life. Does that make sense? Anyway . . . sorry to ramble! Let me know if you feel the same way. I have about 12 pounds to "goal." My immediate goal is a BMI of 24.9, which is considered "normal!" XO, Sandy

WOW Mimi, you look GORGEOUS! And you don't have any hanging skin in the neck/chin area like I do. I look like a chicken, haha! Congrats on your success! XO, Sandy (-120)

Hi Ruth! Love your new photo, so beautiful! You've lost 105 lbs, I would hardly call you a slow loser! You have plugged along and have had fantastic success. And you have always been so supportive of others, thank you for always sharing your sweet spirit! I am doing well, my loss has slowed down because I have not been as conscientious but I am still losing. I'm at about 148 now and want to at least get to 136 which is "normal" for my height on the BMI chart. The great thing is I have REALLY changed my eating habits and it will be for life, I am sure of that. Now when I "cheat" I might have one or two cookies instead of the whole box. And food is so NOT the focus of my life anymore. I feel like I am eating to live instead of living to eat! Congratulations on your success Ruth! Hugs, Sandy (-120) P.S. I wish I could figure out how to get my photo up here!
