Welcome Dea- This forum doesn't have as many posts as your state board does but, it is nice to see how others from the same surgery month are doing. I am down 92 Lbs. and doing great. I love the life this surgery has given back to me. Teri

Hello All, I just found this site listed under the communites - I usually hang out on the Alabama State board - but this is cool. It was great to find you guys who had surgery the same month as me. I'm married with 2 teenagers and my Mom, cat and a dog live with us. It's a chaotic household and I love ~almost~ every minute. I thank God everyday for this life saving surgery - I'm off diabetic and hyptertensive meds and feel better than I can remember. I'm down 100 lbs since surgery and -111 since July 2004. Living and Loving Life now! Looking forward to getting to ~know~ my Sept 04 siblings in wls. - hugs - dea

Dear Tina, I feel your frustration, girl! I have lost a total of 94 lbs in about the same time - really just a few more than you - and started this trip at 310. My guesses, for my slower (seemingly than others) weight loss are the following: Not enough water. Not truly enough protein. Not truly enough exercise. Whenever I've varied one of those three (particularly the water and exercise) things seem to move in a more positive direction (on the scale going down). Also something I've noticed about myself - about every 30 lbs or so I stall.....can take about a month to get the scale going down again. I have just passed a stall and am watching the numbers go down on the scale. Try not to get too worked up about it. Vary the three things above and see what happens. Try to remember how much better you feel and I'm guessing how much more healthy you are then you were 10 months ago! Good luck. Tracey

I have heard the same thing as the previous post. I have used Gold Bond lotion for the itching and dry skin. My surgeon told me to drink more water I was getting dehydrated also. So, you may want to up your fluid intake. That is just a suggestion. Lisa 279/156/150

What is going on with me? In the last two months I have only lost 5lbs. that is a total of 83lbs and I will be 10 months out on the 20th. Could something be wrong with me? I am not a light weight either I started at 299. I feel as if Im going crazy. I am appreciative of the weight I have lost but I know I should be losing more. Any advice is welcome.

I know - the differences between states astound me. Here in OK, it's illegal to get a tatoo! Gambling is also illegal (although it can be done on tribal lands). Go figure. We have a horrible state when it comes to taking care of the needy. Oklahoma is just in this horrid mindset that if you're poor, you "choose" to be poor b/c you're too lazy to work. I cannot even tell you the number of people who say crap like "well, if they (families - parents and children) get hungry enough, they'll work." There is no sympathy for illness or disability. it's very, very tragic. I sometimes think God gave me these disabilities for me to lobby for CHANGE in our system here in Oklahoma. We need change, desperately. Anyway. . . . sorry to ramble! LOL Obviously, this is a hot topic with me.

I agree Leslie that seems crazy. I just don't understand why all states should be so different. It just doesn't make sense to me. Even education. Why should our country be teaching children in different states different ways. Take the highest ranked in education and teach all our children that way. ANyway good luck and keep us posted. Tina
