Topic: RE: Summertime Backyard Cravings
Hey Marianne -
I can TOTALLY relate! I have been cheating bigtime this summer as well. Well, maybe "bigtime" is an exaggeration. It's really a bite of this and a bite of that of totally forbidden foods, and they TASTE so good! I think for me the big problem is that everyone tells me how great I look and I look like a "normal" person so I end up eating like a normal person. BUT I am 16 pounds from goal and I want to get there sooner rather than later. Summertime has been hard, lots of parties every weekend and ordering delivery at the pool, etc.
My strategy this week has been to go back to protein shakes and 1 1/2 meals a day just to get my cravings under control. It's working. I have a South Beach meal replacement bar for breakfast, 210 cal approximately and 19 grams of protein and 3 carbs. Then I drink drink drink all day. For dinner I'm having a 6 oz can of salmon or tuna or grilled fish or chicken breast and veggies. That's it. Except at the end of the day I always have a cup of tea with a packet of Splenda and 2 SF cookies. I'll do this til I reach my goal. My eating has never been out of control since my surgery, just not as disciplined as it should be. So go back to basics and write everything down if you have to and you will get back in control! Good luck! XO Sandy

Topic: Just checking in to say HI!
Hey Everyone -
Just popped on the website and caught up with everyone's great progress. Aren't we the bomb-diggity! Great to "hear" everyone's updates.
I haven't been on the website in weeks, I'm team rep for our community swim team, my son coaches and my daughter swims and I am always at the pool. I'm weighing in at 152 now, down from 268. The weight is coming off so slow now, it seems that I am alot hungrier. But still trying to stick with the 70 grams of protein and 30 carbs. And still trying hard not to eat after 8 pm. I want to lose 16 more and I know I will eventually!
I'm still going to the gym and doing the elliptical and on Mondays and Thursdays I take an adult swim class that my son is teaching, it's from
7-8 pm and is very humbling! I am slow but I feel so good about myself. My long term goal is to complete a sprint triathlon by Spring 2006.
Had my consultation for PS on June 24. I love the doctor, total confidence in him but pricey. He recommends a circumferential abdominoplasty, breast reduction/lift and brachioplasty. The arms will almost definitely have to wait since insurance won't cover. Oh also, my gastric bypass surgeon will be doing a gigantic hernia repair at the same time. I'm hoping insurance will cover some of the breast/TT surgery but the plastic surgeon isn't hopeful. I'll report back when I know more.
Well that's it for now. I took off work today to clean my house and I'm off to scrub my bathrooms! XO, Sandy

Topic: RE: Getting a Bite to eat in the MALL
Hello Marianne...
I know this is an older post and you've already gotten lots of good notes but just had to reply since it struck a nerve with me. Since surgery, I have become a Taco Bell (and Mexican food) junkie. Never was a fan of the spicy stuff but now I am...weird. Anyhow, when I graduated from one taco being "enough" to get me through, I started getting 2 and then combining the contents into one shell. When I eat both or most of both whole, it's too much bread and carbs have really started to affect me lately. Too many and it leads to not only being uncomfortable...but low blood sugar a couple hours later.
Anyhow, that's my tip...YMMV.
Congrats on your performance so far and keep up the good work!

Topic: RE: How many Calories?
I never count calories or fat content. The only thing I try to keep low are carbs and sugars and check the protein for the highest amounts. That works for me.
Topic: RE: **9 MONTH pics**
Great pics ! I post pics on my website every month. A front angle , side and full body shot so you can see the differences. It really helps to see yourself this way especially on those down days to where you don't feel like you are losing enough.

You need to remember how miserable and how heavy you were prior to wls. Get your mind in focus and realise putting that crap ( for lack of a better word ) in your mouth and the small satisfaction you get from it , is SOOOOOOOOO not worth the end result. Get sugar free stuff. You have to remember to train your mind as well as your body I always say. LIFE long change. Anyone can defeat the beast if they put their mind to it

Topic: Hallelujah I am ONLY OBESE!!!
Hi All,
I am SO happy.
I just updated my BMI on my profile and discovered that as of yesterday, I am ONLY obese!
No more super morbidly
or morbidly
obese for me!!! What an odd thing to be ecstatic for, but I take my victories wherever I can find them!
I also realized that I am no longer eligible for WLS.
How cool is that!!! This has been a hard journey, (I will never
say it's been easy,) but it's so worth it!
Blessings To All,
Tonya
