Topic: RE: OT--Today I Hate My Husband
I have a theory after reading lots of posts on various OH boards about relationships. I believe when we were much heavier and felt bad about ourselves, we didn't allow ourselves to be angry about our husbands faults. We just endured because after all, we were fat and didn't like ourselves and so we figured if they put up with us we could endure their faults. Now that we've lost weight and feel better about ourselves, we feel like we have a right to make a few decent demands on our husbands. Problem is, as I see it, they haven't changed. They are still the same as they've always been. They still nag us or withhold money from us or withdraw into their world because our losing weight hasn't really done anything to them. I think in some cases, it makes them MORE possessive or want to buy more things for us to keep us around, etc. But, in reality, they've seen us lose weight but it wasn't like one day we were fat and the next we were skinny. They've lived with us through it and so to them we're pretty much the same, just a little smaller. I remember the first time I lost weight years ago. My husband was complaining that I needed to lose weight. So, I did. Then he didn't say anything about it at all. So, I started eating again and gained it all back. This time, I lost weight for myself, to feel better just going about my everyday life, to have energy, to be able to walk around the grocery store and not get winded, etc. I find it much more fulfilling because it is for me and not for him. I love my husband, but I am not expecting him to change just because I have. It sounds to me like you need to get your hubby and yourself into counseling very quickly. Since you've lost weight, you realize you probably could get another guy and you have already mentioned the "D" word so that is at least a remote contemplation. If you really love him and want it to work, you need to get him to see there is a problem here. He has become a creature of habit and just because you lost weight, it is not going to break him out of his habits. Having an impartial third party help you discuss some things and give you assignments to work on some things will do wonders for your marriage. You know if you did get a divorce, you'd have even more problems. If you have kids there's that whole thing. Your property has to be divided. You feel like a used dishrag. You have to go back into the dating world (what a drag at 50ish). If you're like me, you'd feel like you failed at a commitment you made more than 28 years ago. Most people I know who've gotten a divorce wished they had not. Their second thoughts come way too late to do anything about it. Pray about it and then find a counselor you can both agree on and go see him or her. Your marriage is worth fighting for. You are a person of worth and you deserve to voice your opinion, your wants and your needs. You've been quiet way too long. Make some wave. It might add a little passion in your marriage. Good luck.

Topic: Heyyyy! Update time!
Wow I havent been here in sooo long! I miss you guys! I just spent some time catching up on all the posts. But it seems like you guys are busy living life too. I am down 88 lbs now, and i really want to hit 100, but many people tell me I am "done". I don't think so, but I would be ok if i did stay here at this weight. I just don't want to gain. I love being able to wear what i want. I am 140 lbs now. I stopped doing fitday for a while. I'll let you know how that goes longer term. For the short term, it seems ok. I am less food-focused. Which i think is a good thing. I am going to wait to have my tummy tuck and possible arms/thighs until i see what happens to it all over time. i think things are still continuing to adjust. I work out at the gym 2-5 times a week and love it. I think that helps as well. So that is my update! I have been hanging out with my daughter's 16 year old friends and have been mistaken for her a couple of times driving by! That was cool!! Say hi and give an update! Love, Sue

Good Girl! Isn't it cool how we stumble into the fact that we can wear a smaller size? Have a great time on vacation!

Topic: Size 14?? NOT!!
Hi Everyone! Posting from the beautiful state of PA where I am still on vacation until tomorrow when I head back home to Long Islan. What's new for me is that today my girlfriend and I went shopping and I was looking for some more skorts in a size 14. Without checking I thought I had picked up a size 14 when indeed I grabbed a size 12, and guess what????? THEY FIT!!! I am sooo happy! It truly was a nice surprise. I am sure that there are still some size 12's that might be snug depending on the cut, but this certainly is a continuation in still the right direction. Have a great night--we are just trying to decide where to go for dinner! I plan on weighing myself first thing Friday morning! Hugs Marianne
