Topic: RE: What a difference a year makes
I forgot about the clothing changes and energy changes. Like most of you it is cool being able to shop anywhere and not order on-line or from catalogs. Walking up stairs and not getting winded and parking further away from the stores and enjoying my walk. One year and its a new world.

Hi Codie! I was just in the same boat as you until this week. I was stuck at the same weight for a month with no change. Well I had to honestly re-evaluate all that I was doing and I made the changes I needed to. I am now drinking at least 100 oz. of water every day and I make sure that I have 2 protein shakes everday now too. I knew what I was doing or I should say NOT doing and I was also eating a little junk here and there too. Anyway to make a long story short, I started losing again this week and I have lost 3 lbs so far since I started drinking and eating right again. Hope this helps. Love Amybee Open RNY 9-22-04 ~103lbs.

Codie, Plateau City has been my middle name since about month four. I've lost 98 pounds (just can't quite hit that 100 pound mark...irrrr) and wi**** were more. I look at how others have lost well over 100 pounds in the same amount of time and it just upsets me that I can't seem to do the same thing. My doctor reminded me the other day that the scale is just a number and he knows that is the hardest thing for us to remember, but to focus on what things have changed. I had insulin resistance which is now gone. He said my sleep study showed some minor bouts of sleep apnea which is now gone, and my cholesterol is now back in the normal range too. I know what he is saying is definitely more important than any number on a scale, but geez, it's such an incentive when those numbers on the scale drop! I need to focus again on my protein and hopefully that will jump start things again. Good luck to you.... Jill P. 288/190/145 9-21-04

Topic: RE: Slacking on protein
Yep, me too! I have just been so busy this past month (stupid excuse for not drinking my protein drinks though...) that I was slacking off. Well, I happened to have another post-op visit recently and had to do some follow-up blood work. The doctor got the results back and immediately called me to let me know my protein level was down. He said it was not horribly low, but just didn't want it to get any lower. I asked him how long it takes for it to make a difference in the blood. He said at least a couple weeks. So, I'm back to trying to make sure I get in three Isopure drinks a day. I drink the Isopure (premixed glass bottles) as someone else mentioned, too. I don't drink them straight though. I only like the Alpine Punch and the Icy Orange, five ounces of each in a glass which equates to 20 grams of protein, then add an additional 5-6 ounces of SF Cherry Koolaid. The tartness in the cherry seems to squash some of that funky protein taste for me. I've been trying to get in at least three of those a day, then whatever else I eat in food so hopefully I end up with around 80 grams of protein a day. By mixing those two flavors, then adding that little bit of SF cherry koolaid, it's more like a punch tasting drink to me. I cannot do ANYTHING milky as far as protein drinks go. They always feel like a concrete block in my stomach! My weight loss has stalled right now so I know I need to get back on the ol' and get my rear in gear! I don't think you're the only one having a hard time getting the protein down. Have a great day! Jill P. 288/190/145 9-21-04

Topic: RE: Tolorance to SUGAR!
Marianne, I like ice cream too! Sometimes I get the No Sugar Added Butter Pecan or Chocolate Mint by Dryers, but what I like even more than is Klondike's Reduced Fat & Calorie No Sugar Added Slim-A-Bear ice cream sandwiches. They come in a white, flat box and the words NO SUGAR ADDED is in big blue letters right above the picture of the square ice cream sandwich. These are VERY good. They have 120 calories, only 3 grams of fat, 3 sugars, 1 sugar alcohol and 4 protein. They have some ones that are in a similar box that say Slim-A-Bear 98% fat free, but those have a lot of sugar in them. This white box has six in the box and they are not stacked on top of each other. They have a package of reduced calorie ones that are wrapped in a clear cello type wrap, those are NOT No Sugar Added ones. You can go to their website and click on the specific product then find out what stores in your area sell them. I don't think just because we've gone through this surgery does that mean we cannot enjoy a treat now and then, we just need to make sure we make the right choice as to what kind it is. Good luck to you!!! Jill P. 288/190/145 9-21-04

I have to "chime in" on this. I can wear Pantyhose without having to "order them" from LaneBryant or Sear Woman's catalog. I am wearing dresses again and loving it!! I also am actually enjoying taking the stairs instead of the elevator and parking in a distant parking space and walking to the store!!! I cannot believe how much energy I have now!! Hallelujah!!!

Hi Shannon, I just had to write and let you know that I buy my protein from a guy on E-Bay. It is fresh, and delicious, and only costs about $32.00 for a 5 lb. cannister which lasts a LONG time for me. I use one scoop per day. The Tropical Banana is my favorite. I use powdered milk, and sometimes I add strawberries or some other fruit, but mostly I add cocoa to it. I also add one packet of Equal and that helps the taste immensely for me. I will send you the website if you want me to. Just let me know!! Hugs, Pam
