Topic: RE: Feeling Cold vs. Summer Heat
Marianne, I hope we (or at least me) will be freezing this summer. Hot flashes have kicked in this week and are kicking my butt royally. My dog thinks I'm nuts... got a big blanket on my chair, 3 on the bed and fans going all over the house... thank goodness they only last a couple of minutes and then its back to the deep freeze but they come on so quickly and last for only about 5 mins but man... intense 5 mins.... blankets flying, clothes flying, magazines or paper as a fan... and the fans all cranked up on HI for 5 mins then back down to low for the duration till the next wave of heat... granted its a quick relief that my nose fingers and toes aren't blue but I'll take blue to sweating buckets anyday!!! My mom lost nearly 70 pounds a few years ago and she wore sweat suits all summer long! We teased her then but now I know what she went thru. I think we are going to be chilly for awhile! wanda

Topic: RE: Daily Calorie Totals
My doc and nutr. refuse to give us numbers with the exception of protein... minimum 60 gms / day and sugars... nothing with more than 6 gms of sugars... I have asked repeatedly because I do better with guidelines, they tell me "life isn't about guidelines, its learning new behaviours" and I said ..."ya da ya da ya da"... I have really slowed waay down on losing but I think I'm gonna borrow some of the numbers posted here and see if it makes a difference. wanda

Sandy, I'm like you... gotta love new toys but at my age understanding the darn things can be the challenge!!! Question... My BMR for a goal weight of 138 was 1344... now according to Harrison B... for sedentary lifestyle multiply by 1.2 that equals 1712.8... can that be right??? 1700 cals/day to get to 138??? I know I am no where near that (even with chocolate!!!) Just wondering? Thanks wanda

Topic: RE: Bruising?
The Vitamin K deficiency sounds very reasonable. My nutr. made it very clear that we were to take vits that had K in them... haven't heard of anyone in my group that has had bruising... you all aren't meeting in an alley and beating each other up are you???LOL wanda

Thanks for the info. I am so friggin' picky and I'm afraid to shell out that much and hate it and still be hungry! Gonna stick with the safe stuff for now. wanda

Topic: RE: Embarrasing: Eating Junk
Cherilyn (what a pretty name), don't feel bad, I can eat almost anything...especially sugar! Fortunately my pouch will not let me eat much but I do eat it. And if its in the house... its gonna get eaten! I have such a weird schedule, I work night shift 4 nights/week... 2 of those are 12 hour shifts, 2 are 8 hour shifts and there is NO schedule!!! I find on my days off, esp. in the evening... I want to graze and snack all the time, I don't feel full and I just keep hunting for something. Then I get pissed when the scales don't move! DUH!!!! So honey, I feel your pain. I start each and every day new... some days I do really well, others... not so much but the important thing is I try. So quit beating yourself up... you did enough of that pre-op and it didn't do anything but make you feel worse about yourself. I liked that idea of starting from the beginning again... I think I might give that a whirl... Huggles to you sweetie, don't beat yourself up... we are all in the same boat!(some can handle those paddles better than others!) Wanda

Topic: RE: Vitamins . . . Again!
Good for you for being proactive!!! Stay on your doc and nutritionist because like you said... you don't want to treat a problem when you can prevent one!!! It sounds like you have it covered except I don't see any B12 on your list. We were told to take a B complex and add B12 (either the sublingual or the monthly injection) because the part of our tummies that absorb the b12 is no longer available to us... My routine has fewer meds (4 calciums, 2 multivits, 1 biotin/day) but each doc is different in what they want. Good luck and keep the fire lit under the nuts butt!!! wanda
