Topic: RE: Has anyone tried these low-carb crackers?
I bought those crackers and the ones you find at http://store.bariatriceating.com/gochcr.html - the cheese crackers (basically burnt cheese) and I haven't tried them yet. I also got the green apple martini drinks for low carb mixers and haven't tried any of them. I have been saving them for when I have a craving (which I have RIGHT NOW but I am not going to succumb to it at 12:45am). I will post again tomorrow because I am going to try them. I keep looking at them and they look delicious. I'll let you know.
Topic: RE: Bruising?
Oh my gosh! I thought I was just kicking myself in my sleep. I see faint bruises but don't know where they came from. Strange! I'll check my vitamins again but I was told they were fine a month ago.
Topic: Healthy foods repertoire...
Hi guys
I think it's time for a re-post of what foods have been helpful for you to stay on track. What do you find especially satisfying or useful for stopping cravings? I'm going to list a few that I've posted about before, and try to think of a few that I haven't shared with you guys before. Looking forward to reading your ideas!
1) Southwest Chicken Fajita Pita from Jack in the Box Restaurant- I don't know if you guys have Jack in the Box by you, but this is a great little sandwich for 260 calories. Nothing unhealthy about it. Leave some of the pita behind and it's even better. A great drive thru choice on those days you have no choice.
2) Miso Soup- this comes in a packet and is only 35 calories! Delicious, my kids love it too. Great on those days you already overdid it a bit and just want something really light later in the day.
3) Sara Lee Deliteful breads and bagels- low calorie but still delicious. Whole grain and no trans fats.
4) Laughing Cow Light wedge cheese- smear some on a turkey slice and eat with a pickle for lunch. Really good. 35 calories a wedge.
5) Ak Mak Stone Ground Wheat Crackers- 20 calories for a BIG cracker, yum. Ordinary crackers are yukky compared to this. Ancient methods, totally healthy.
6) Apple Cranberry Zen bran muffins from Trader Joe's. 80 calories, fill ya like a 6 course meal. Great breakfast.
7) Costco canned chicken breast- yummy alternative to tuna.
8) Of course, my wonderful Quaker Lower Sugar Oatmeal, preferably the apple cinnamon flavor. Make this with half a cup of water AND half a cup of nonfat carb conscious milk, which only adds 20 calories but makes a world of difference in the taste and how it thickens up. Plus one added splenda and some cinnamon sprinkled on top. OMG. 130 calorie bliss. Another option is to do all water and add a scoop of vanilla protein powder to jack up the protein and add creaminess. I did this once and it was great!
9****d decaf coffee from starbucks with one oz half and half and 2 splenda. Only 50 calories but satisfies like a frappucino would for 650. Dont drink tea or coffee within 2 hrs of your iron pill.
10) an occasional chocolaty protein bar to feel like i'm having a treat. some are as low as 110 calories and actually good for you, read labels.
Well that's it for now. Sorry for the lengthy post for those of you who get irritated with my wordiness
Share your ideas too! Especially those of you who eat very limited carbs. I'd love to have more protein ideas.
Have a great weekend guys!
Love,
Sue

Topic: RE: Embarrasing: Eating Junk
Hi Cherilyn,
Sandy and Erin gave you good advice. It is true that the negativity towards ourselves makes things worse instead of better. What we need is to have a repertoire of convenient, good food choices. Especially while on the run. I'm going to start a new post on this topic to get the ideas flowing to help all of us. We all can learn from each other. That's the beauty of a site like this. Don't lose faith in yourself. You can regroup and do this.
Love,
Sue
Topic: RE: Embarrasing: Eating Junk
First, stop doing this to yourself. Stop mentally beating yourself up. Trust me...I have slipped more than once. I can eat pizza. I just pick the smallest slice. I have and do eat chocolate only if its in the house(which I have to stop doing..(period) Guilt makes me eat more junk and more crap. That is why we are here. To help you through this.
I understand how you feel right now because I am going through it. Someone suggested that we start from the beginning. Do the 2 weeks of liquids, then stage 2 then ease into stage 3 etc etc etc....I am seriously thinking of doing that.
As for the eating in the car. Pack snacks like peanuts or beef jerky or stuff like that. I can't tell you how beef jerky had saved me some days. That way instead of eating a candy bar you'll have a protein bar instead. You'll get your protein in as well as eat something good for you.
But please stop beating yourself up....That won't help. BTDT. Do you do protein shakes?? Try that. That will fill you up in between. I am thinking of suggestions cuz I am not clear on exactly what you eat every day. But I think I am going to start from day one and ease myself back to where I am now. Drink water, water, water too. That will also aide in wl.
Good Luck and I do hope I have helped you in some way. We're here to support...not blast. Hang in there. You'll be OK.

Topic: Vitamins . . . Again!
I talked to a nutritionist yesterday, she was NOT much help. Just said if my labs were OK to keep doing what I was doing! I expected a more proactive answer. She didn't seem concerned. She said if there's a problem I'll know it. Well, that seemed kind of ignorant, I don't want to wait til I'm showing signs of deficiency to make corrections.
So, here's my plan, please feel free to comment or make suggestions:
First thing when I wake up: 1 VITRON C Tablet (I know it says take with food but I think that's in case you get an upset tummy and that has not been a problem.)
A few hours later: 2 CITRACAL tablets (630 mg)
After breakfast: 1 MULTIVITAMIN, 1 BIOTIN
After lunch: 1 MULTIVITAMIN, 1 SUPER B COMPLEX, 1 BIOTIN
Mid afternoon: 2 CITRACAL tablets
After dinner: 1 MULTIVITAMIN, 1 BIOTIN
Mid evening: 2 CITRACAL tablets
Before bedtime: 1 RANITIDINE tablet (acid reducer)
Thanks for any advice! Hugs, Sandy
Topic: RE: Lower Abdomen Pain
I had similar pains approx 2 months ago, pain so bad that I couldn't move and almost passed out from the pain. By the time I got to the ER, I was dehydrated b/c I was too afraid to eat or drink when the pain began. Once at the ER I had the battery of test, and luckily there was no blockage. It seemed to be a combination of constipation and gas. It was enough to keep me home for 2 days, but it did pass. Since then I have made it a point to drink more than 64 ounces and I include prunes in my daily diet. Good luck with your doctor.
Topic: RE: QUESTION
I can eat sugar without dumping! I was sooooooooooooo disappointed (and scared) when I discovered this. I don't eat too much, but I could!!! Normally, just a hershey's kiss or a Hershey miniature is enough to satisfy me, but I wish that it made me sick as a dog!!! I worry that later on, just a small amount won't be enough. My "salvation" is that I am allergic to wheat, so I CAN'T eat cake, cookies, pie, etc. Most pure chocolate does NOT contain wheat however. I do find that the more I eat, the more I want, so I try not to indulge, but I will tell you that around "that time of the month" I am not very successful at NOT indulging!!! I've sorta reached the conclusion that this is just one of the "demons" that I am going to HAVE to learn how to battle!!!
