Topic: RE: What do you do for exercise???
Hi Erin,
After bearing all my weight for many years. my knees have now gone on strike.(ouch!)
So. I do the walk away the pounds too, I'm at home to start with and I can fit in 15-20 when it works best
for my day...and my knees.
I just wanted to mention that Leslie has a good new book out that includes information about her tapes. I cheated by going to the library and makng copies of the few pages of photos of the moves she uses during the walks.
The neat thing is if you ever get bored, you can make
up your own walk with the pics and a kitchen timer.
Just an idea, and here's hoping we all keep moving!

Topic: RE: I can't believe this . . . slowest . . ever!!!
Hi there J! Well, maybe this will make you feel better- My surgery was on Sept.20/2004 and I have lost just a tad under 60 lbs. I just saw my pcp and we are thinking it is because of my diabetes and the insulin I have to take. I only take it at night now, as opposed to 4 times a day before surgery. But, it does make it harder to lose. I also had a back injury in January and could not exercise like I needed to, until a few weeks ago. I have now started to go to Curves and I love it! So, we will see! But, I understand the FRUSTRATION, believe me!!! And I still struggle with getting my water and protein in some days. But, when we reach our goals, AND WE WILL- how much sweeter the victory will be! Take care and God bless
Jan

I do not know what to tell you to make you feel better but I will send a hug your way. Your BMI is 28, so you are headed in the right direction just a bit slow. The only thing I can think of is maybe you are drinking too many protein drinks. Although they are good for us and we do need the protein, they do have calories and sugar in them. I go to Fitday.com and calculate my dietary food in there. I did find out that with me being low on Carbs. that makes it high on fats. So my protein and fat consumption go neck in neck on the grams. My calorie intake is about 900 six months out. My first 3 months were at 400-500 calories.
I am glad you posted. I know you will continue to lose because you are doing the right things. Do not give up, I bet when you look in the mirror you are feeling great about yourself. Take care, Janice

I agree with the Walk Away the Pounds suggestion but you may also try using a therapy ball (also at walmart). They usually come with an instruction poster with different exercises. These stretching type exercises can really give you a workout. best of luck!

Wow, Leslie! I guess we share more than the same name and same wls date! I too have chronic pain and similar lab test results. Thankfully, I dont have the diagnoses you do. I empathize with you so much. My wls has reduced the chronic pain episodes. (now just labeled as fibromyalgia and arthritis, Im also bipolar) Ive had positive and negative ANA tests. I also break out in a rash on all joints when Im in the sun. I know lupus can be horrible to live with. I know 2 ladies with it. I hope you get the SSD. Im 18 months into SSD process and dont get a hearing for another year but then again.... my pain isnt as bad due to the wls. I used a walker and wheelchair till a few months ago. Now I can walk (still no distances) and have pain episodes every few days to weeks instead of every day. Please feel free to email me just to "chat" or discuss pain clinics, meds., and other stuff. Best of luck to you. Ill keep you in my prayers. WTG with the weight loss.

You're not a downer! We all need to blow off a little steam once in a while. I think it gets to us all. I know you know muscle weighs more than fat, but just try to remind yourself that, that may be why your friend weighs less. If she's not exercizing as much as you are that could very well explain it. It will all come off when your body is ready. I'm sorry you are going through the slow thing and I know you'll get there. Keep your chin up and let it all out when ever you need to. You'll feel better for it.

I had spasms in my back and I still have arthritis, but with the weight loss it doesn't bother me like it use to. I had 24/7 pain in my back, spasms, and head. My neurologist had me on Trazadone (which is a generic of a anti depressant) for 150mg, Zanaflex 4mg (muscle relaxant), and Celebrex 200mg - 400mg (anti-inflammatory). This regimen kept the pain away. You have a lot more going on, but this worked for me... thought it's may help you.

ps: home from my second round of chemo and on a different anti-nausea medication. So far I've kept my wits about me longer. My WBC count is on the way down, so well have to see how I'm doing next week. Later.
Topic: I can't believe this . . . slowest . . ever!!!
Hi everyone. I am the slowest loser on the board. There were a few people like me but they have passed me up. I know everyone is different and I should be thrilled but come on . . . enough is enough. I have lost 60 lb. Thrilled with that but not elated. I exercise like crazy, eat my protein, drink my water, take all my vitamins and I am the winner of being the fricking slowest loser here. I am down right discusted and pretty much getting pissed off
. I am almost embarassed to post this. There is probably nothing I can do. I am a medical professional and I know the ins and outs!!! I follow all the directions and I mean all of them. I just need to blow off some steam. I don't know what to do other than keep my chin up and keep going at it. My best friend on the board, Erin Obrien, who I love to death weighs 30 lb. less than me and we started out the same!!!! She is a wonderful support with lots of good ideas. Honest to God, I have not had one sweet since last August; I am talking not even a freaking M@M. Please do not ask me if I am following the rules . . . cause I am. I measure everything that goes in my mouth as well as the other stuff. Anyone else in the same boat? Sorry for being such a downer.
J.
