Sue, your words are so kind and encouraging! About the cals--I often go over 1000--not perfect here. The doc just told me to stop doing that. I will definitely try to get some pix up. It's strange to keep seeing my post-op pic on here. Have a great week!! -KT

See he didn't, and that kind of worries me. 1000 cals seems ok right now b/c I am still losing, but like I said.. I am going to see a nutritionist at the one year mark and see exactly what i need to eat to maintain my whatever my weight is in 5 months at my one-year anniversary. We'll see. How about you..how many cals does your dr. say you should be eating? -Take Care-KT

Marianne - Way to go girl! I can feel your joy and excitement just by reading your post, totally contagious! Doesn't it feel good to have the admiration of our kids??? I totally get that! My son (almost 19) is very sparing with his compliments so I value them more when I receive them because I know he is sincere. My daughter (8) already loves clothes and showers me with compliments and approval every day, but I never get tired of hearing it. You have worked hard to get where you are. Enjoy the journey, you don't sound like someone who will ever slip into your old habits. Toss those big clothes and keep buying the new ones, you've earned it! As far as shorts, I recommend spandex, my new best friend! Hugs, Sandy

Good for you Marianne!! I really love Ny & Company, I used to go int here all the time with my best friend even when it was called Lerner's and could never fit anything. Those days are gone!! I purchased my first pair of size 12 jeans from there!!! I cried, but I'm very emaotional these days...I love shopping now because I'm not limited to Lane Bryant, the Avenue or Ashley Stewart. Doesn't it feel great to be able to go in all of the stores and find something!! I'm very proud of you!! Keep up the good work!! YOU ROCK!! ~Jae 275/190/180

Topic: Monday Roundup!
Good mornin' ! Well, spring has finally sprung in the DC area, the cherry blossoms are gorgeous and I feel like a butterfly shedding it's cocoon! Hope life is good for everyone reading this! How did y'all do last week? I'll start: # lost last week - only 1/2 pound # lost overall - 98 1/2 # of pounds still to lose to reach to of "normal" BMI range - 33 (check out http://nhlbisupport.com/bmi/bmicalc.htm) Favorite low carb "convenience" food - South Beach Diet protein bars (10g of protein, 9 carbs, 140 calories) the Peanut Butter flavor is to die for, I'm NOT kidding! I eat this EVERY morning for breakfast. Eexercise last week - 5 days Best "WOW" moment - I went to Target yesterday for some new nighties, the "Flashdance" look of my old ones falling off one shoulder has played itself out, haha! (Once again, some of you may be too young to remember Jennifer Beals in the movie!) I got a few sets with those little crop pants with drawstring and tank top (size L) and my 8 year old daughter told me proudly that the cool moms wear those jammies! Felt WAY good! Biggest challenge - CONSISTENCY! I'm making great food choices Monday through Friday, going to the gym EVERY day, drinking lots (and I'm not talking' Tequila Sunrises here!), taking my vitamins, etc. When the weekend comes I don't make make BAD choices, just choices that are not as good. And that's why the weight isn't dropping like it used to. I know that when you get down to the last 20 to 30 pounds it is the hardest and I need to be disciplined 7 days a week, not just 5. I mean, I'm not eating brownies or bowls of spaghetti or anything like that but I'm not making the best food choices and I'm eating bigger meals more frequently. Someone kick my butt so I can ditch these last 33 pounds! Love y'all! Hugs, Sandy 268/169.5/136

Hi Sue! It's funny how much my body has changed. If I had to say that MS has one brutal enemy, it's heat! Seriously, HEAT would make me sooo sick. If I got hot, every muscle in my body would spasm. But, over this last year, I have been able to tolerate some heat. The weight loss always make me so COLD that I would sleep with a heating pad on my feet! LOL I haven't tried the heating pad on my back, though. Maybe I should. Funny you should mention a massage. . . my mom is a certified massage therapist and a RN. She owns a holistic healing center. One would think that I would take advantage of this!! LOL But I rarely get a break from "mommy" duties, and I don't get the chance. Les

Hi and thanks! yes, could you email me the exercises? I would be willing to try them. I take soma daily for regular muscle spasms and dysfunction from my MS. I also take baclofen. With "average" muscle spasms, the soma does work pretty good. But these back pains are stronger than any pain reliever I have, which sucks. I called my PCP, and he is sending me to a pain management specialist (not just for the back problems - but for chronic pain from the MS and PA). I hope that helps. Thanks! Leslie
