Joyce; Yes, most cases of sleep apnea are cured through WLS. She may have to be on her c-pap for a few months post-op, but as her weight comes down, she will likely be able to get rid of it. Blessings, Jennifer 253 / 178 / 137

Not always, There are thin people who have sleep apnea, as well. After surgery, she should follow up with her pulmonologist to try weaning off the c-pap as she loses weight. If the apnea is obesity related, it will be cured, if there is another underlying cause for it, she will have to keep the C-pap. I hope that helps! **hugs** Janet

Hi Joyce! I didn't have sleep apnea, either... but I knew 4 or 5 post ops that did and they were all cured of it. Some got off their C-pap in about 6 months, one at a year and one at a year and a half post op. I guess it depends on the person, the severity of the sleep apnea and how it affects them. Tell you friend I wish them the best of luck and I'd do it again in a minute. Blessings, Jacki K from PA

Mandy I do know what you mean. Just being obese like how many americans in the world was a happy moment for me too. Now we are among the normal percentage. Ha ha. Betty

hey Mandy I am so there with you. I had a dream that I walked into a new doctors office and he said Mrs, Watson we need to talk about your weight. Do you realise you are obese. And I replied really is that all. LOL, Amy

Oh man, it is a thing to celebrate! I will be so excited when I am just "overweight" and not "obese". I need another 30 lb for that and I can hardly stand it. I can hardly picture my self as "normal" weight. Good work and keep it up!
