ASHLEY HARDY UPDATE 3/3/04
Hello Wonderful and Dear Friends!!
I wanted to update you on my daughter Ashley Hardy......Although we have had some setbacks as you know from Sandy's posts...Ashley is feeling better. The biggest problem has been diagnosing what is causing her nausea, vomiting and burning pain...........Ashley was readmitted on Monday and I am posting this from the hospital where she is still receiving fluids and medication. We are hoping that the breakthru came when she tested positive last nite with C-Diff (Clostridium difficile)......which is bad bacteria that develops in your intestinal tract.....this often happens after surgery involving the gastrointestinal tract and frequent use of antibiotics.......since her diagnosis with C-Diff last nite they have started her on an antibiotic that kills the bad bacteria....we are hoping for improved results within 24-48 hours.....they are going to put her back on a formula called Promote with Fiber for her nutritional values.....(all fluids at this time are going thru her G tube)............and we are sooooooooooo hoping that we have finally figured out what was causing her recent symptoms..........although Ashley still has a small leak in her new pouch......and has not been able to drink anything by mouth the last 13 days, it is healing, albeit slowly.............and in about 10 days we will redo the leak test (for the 5th time)............and hope that at that time her leak is healed and she can start at least drinking by mouth......I can't possibly begin to express in this post our gratitude for all your prayers, support, cards, and encouragement...........you all are truly just a blessing from above............and I will post again soon. Ashley's spirits are good and your support and cards have meant so mu*****eeping her spirits high!!!! Again, God Bless you all for your wonderful care of us at this challenging time!
With heartfelt thanks,
Lori & Ashley Hardy
Hello!
Wow, I don't know exactly what to say. I am so sorry Ashley is having these problems. I pray that God wrap his healing hands around her and make it all better! Please let her know that many prayers are being said and many positive thoughts are being sent her way! Best wishes, and please keep us posted on her progress! Barbara

if you are getting sick everytime you eat you might just want to give your doc a call and ask if he wants to see you - some times people have scar tissue form that makes it hard for food to get out of your pouch
not saying you are there just that it is worth checking out with the doc.
I am amazed at the things that are symptoms of serouse stuff - right after surgery the bottom of my pouch swelled shut and the doc was worried b/c I was hic up ing - I was worried about
ing blood but he was way more worried about he hic uping - b/c that can be a sign right after surgery of something major - never did tell me what
so I say anything odd - check with your doc - esp. if it is something none of the rest of us are experancing - ie foamies, sick when over eating or not drinking enough
hugs and hope this gets better ASAP
Danni
