Topic: December 23rd Lap-Banders
So I looked through EVERY topic in the December 2008 Surgery Date and Ihave not found one that was LapBand specific for December 23rd patients so I decided to post this.
I am almost 4 weeks post-op and am down 19 pounds!! At first I thought that it was not that much but then realized that I am very lucky to have that much come off so fast.
Is anyone else able to eat besides me? I have been able to eat since my first week post-op. I have been concerned about this but when I went to my 2 week post-op I didn't see my surgeon and they said it was good that I was eating..........confused??!?! YES!!
My eating habits have COMPLETELY changed, I get full faster, but am just concerned that I should be on the mushy stage and I'm not besides the fact that I get my first fill on the 22nd!
I would love to hear from other LapBanders and keep in touch through this journey. Looking forward to hearing from you.........

Topic: RE: Yea - I ate chicken!
My first chicken was canned with I thought plenty of light mayo. It was the first thing I got stuck, never canned chicken again!

Topic: RE: Lap Banders - how long til you went back to work?
I went back to work in 2 weeks. I had my surgery on the 23rd and with the holidays I was able to recuperate until the 5th when I went back to work. I wasn't even ready at that point, I was still sore and a little tired but it helped me to get back on track.
Topic: RE: Challenges so far?
My biggest challenges:
1. Not getting enough liquids in (I forget)
2. Already eating and supposed to be on mushy foods
3. Trying to fit in walking but not having time in the morning or in the evening to do it
4. Not having someone to encourage me daily to keep me going and keep me on track
My BIGGEST problem.........
5. Not eating everything on my plate. I feel like I am wasting food and that is REALLY hard for me right now.

Topic: RE: Mushy food blues
I know exactly how you feel. This is my last week on pureed food. I am so tired of everything that I can have that sometimes I feel like it is just easier to drink my meals than eat them. How much longer are you on the soft foods? When did you have your surgery?

I eat the Hormel Natural Choice Carved Chicken Breast a couple of times a week. I have cooked it in FF Italian dressing with onions and green peppers on the side, ground it up and added FF gravy and baked it or just ate a couple pieces right out of the package, SO GOOD!
It is usually by the lunch meats in the grocery store, comes in a box.

Good for you! That is one thing I hate about this surgery..you never know if things will work or if they wont....When I reheat I add a lil bit of water...it helps a lot! good luck tonight with your chicken!
