Topic: I'm 12 days out and miserable. Help!
I am 12 days out and I haven't even stepped on a scale, because quite simply, I have had a such a rough time from surgery...I don't even care. I have not been able to even get ANY protein down, my parents who are taking care of me since my husband is deployed, have spent hundreds of dollars buying every single protein available (unjury, nectar, eas, adkins, gnc) and I either can't choke them down or get them down and they come up. I have completely given up on protein shakes. Although I'm only 12 days out, I've "cheated" in the fact that I felt I HAD to get some protein in my system and so I've had a few bites of tuna, a few bites of low fat cottage cheese, some peices of low fat cheese and even three spoonfulls of chicken noodle soup. I have had NO tolerance issues with these, unlike the protein shakes. What the heck is going on??? I am so worried about cheating that I've just had the worst time but I know my body and when it came to a point where I knew I needed something, I cheated. I have done really well on my vitamins and fluid intake, but not so much on my protein. So I am pretty miserable, and just need some help! I kind of mentioned it to my nutritionist but she kinda instantly balked at me so I quit explaining it to her. I just don't know what to do anymore.

Actually, you seem to be on track to me. It seems to me that in the first several weeks folks are losing right around an average of a pound a day. Some a little less, some a little more.
Don't forget you probably gained weight from the surgery as well with all the fluid and whatnot that they add. Just keep doing what you need to do and it will come off! Remember, in the long run slower is always better for your body anyhow!
Don't lose faith! You're doing great!

I had my surgery on New Years Eve, and it seems the weight is hardly coming off!! 9 pounds since surgery doesn't seem like enough....compared to others'.....am I on track? I hope I don't get in trouble when I go back for my post op!! I know it will come off, eventually....I know I shouldn't even compare myself to others....but it is hard not to!!
Thanks for letting me vent!!

Umm.. have you finished that reading yet? AAAAAAAAHAHAHAAHAH :-) Just call me mom. lmao
Okay.. sorry to say but I'm with Brett on this one! You're only three weeks out!! Stay on the flippin' purees for crying out loud!!! I WILL figure this scanner out. I'm a techno idiot, so it'll take some time. :-) I will prevail, though! lol
Okay... visit eggface's site. I used several of her puree recipes. I did the stuffed shells stuffing one. I actually made the stuffed shells for the family and then put a portion or two of the filling in the pan without shells for me and topped with sauce a mozzarella like she does. It was quite yummilicious. The kids ate it up.
If you like chicken... I take one can of chunk chicken, a couple of tbsp of chick peas (garbanzo beans), about 1 tbsp mayo and 1 + tbsp genovese pesto. Blenderize. YUMMO! It's good. The pesto also is made with pine nuts so it has like 4 g protein for 2 tbsp or something. I split that into about 2 servings and it's like 13 g protein each. Good stuff.
Okay.. go read or something. :-)

Topic: RE: Im hungry!!!
I only had to be on the liquid diet for a week after surgery, but I went to full liquids a day early. Like you, I was feeling hungry. The thing is, I resumed normal activity within a couple days of surgery. I was out and about and carrying on pretty much as usual... and I felt myself feeling so tired and listless because I wasn't taking in much actual nutrition. I started with a couple tablespoons of cream soup and ate it very slowly over forty minutes. And I was okay. I have had no complications or complaints after surgery, so I felt pretty comfortable going ahead. I certainly don't mean to tell you one way or the other to go against your plan. Just sharing my experience. When I visited the nurse the next day, she thought I had made an okay decision because I have been so active.
