I have been getting  more frequent headaches after having RNY. I used to have them before but very rare. They have starting usually around 9 am and last for a few hours. I thought it was because of the lack of sleep. I usualy have breakfast and then a few hours later baam.... headache.

I didn't think it would be my sugar cuz I usually eat.I did test my sugar at work last week, it was 85 or so but that was wen there was no headache just random testing. Today, I am sitting at work, had  eggs and sausage for breakfast and crackers for a snack. I got a headache, looked in the mirror after washing my hands, my face is flushed, so I checked my sugar. 63!!!! wtf is up wit dat!!

anybody else dealing with dropping sugars?

Going to call the nut if I can stop running calls.

Thanks

I don't think you are losing slow, and are right on track. I used to get discouraged when I'd see others numbers so high, but I had enough WLS friends remind me that we are all so different... starting weight, physical activity, BMI, body composition, etc... its not fair to you to compare yourself to someone else and their loss. Just think, the benefit of you losing slower is that you won't have nearly as bad of sagging skin as someone who has lost 90lbs in 3 months vs 42lbs in 3 months. Don't discount your pre-op weight loss either... loss is loss, and your body has to make adjustments. I count every pound pre-op and post, because they all gone for good! Keep up the good work, and when you get your treadmill, I bet those pounds fly off ya! You are losing nearly 15lbs per month... I'd say you'd be at goal way before you hit your surgery anniversary! You can do it!

Hi Jill -  I'm still struggling with what feels like slow weight loss too.  Day of surgery I was 309, last Tuesday I was 265, so 44 pounds lost.  I usually get between 50-60 g of protein and at least 48oz water, usually closer to 64 I'd say.  Am pretty good with my vitamins and have been doing 15-20 minutes on the treadmill 6 days a week.  The whole month of Feb I only lost 8 pounds, that's WITH exercise.   The only way I get on the treadmill is if I do it before my daughter wakes up.  She's 15 months, so I have to confine her to the high chair or exersaucer if I want to do it while she's up, and usually she isn't content the whole time.

What the previous poster said makes sense. Concentrate on protein most important, vitamins, liquid, then exercise.

Want to try something with me for a week? I know you struggle w/ the shakes, but what about trying to get in 70-80g of protein each day and increase your water JUST FOR ONE WEEK, and see if it makes a difference.  I've been telling myself "maybe if up the protein and water, it would make a difference." And then I never consistantly do it.  Some days I get 70 g , but rarely.  I know Saturday I had at least 4 24oz bottles of water. If I could do those things every day, I really think it might make a difference.   I was thinking about adding two 1/2C servings of cottage cheese a day, that would up my protein by 24G.  Do you like cottage cheese? Is that an option?

Hopefully we'll figure out the magic formula sooner than later. I feel like I must be doing something not quite right, so I'm not losing the optimum amount of weight I could be.

this will make you feel better, im a day after you on surgery, i was 283 in nov and 267 in hospital and now im 229. i also was concerned about now losing as fast as i seen others but when i went to my dr this is what he said and he is voted the top in his field in seattle for 2 years in a row.

the body has to adjust to the big loss already and i should worry about these things in this order.
1. protein 70 g a day
2. vitamins
3. liquid
4. exerc ise
i too have had alot of trouble getting my protein and vitamins in, if you can choke them down in will affect teh scale.

also., i would talk to your dr about any concerns that you have even this one and see what your dr says

if you would like to keep in touch you can add me as a friend

Highest 280

Surgery date 12-15
277 pounds (dr had me at 272...hosp at 277)

Today 238

That's a total loss of 42 pounds.  I really feel like a slow loser.  I know not to compare myself to others but wow, some people are pulling off enormous numbers.

So I have my 3 month appt on Wednesday and I was wondering if I should speak with my dr about this.

I take in 400-850 calories a day, 50-60 grams of protien, carbs are never more than 60.  I am having a horrible time with my chewable vitamins and protien shakes.  They make my stomach nauseated.  I still have trouble with grilled meats, pot roast, chicken.  I can eat ground turkey, hamburger, and eggs just fine.  Water intake is better...around 40-50 oz a day, some days more.  No carbonated beverages, sugars or fried foods...same with fast food.

And I admit, I suck with exercise.  I have a special needs child and it is very hard to have any time to myself to go exercise.  I am begging my Dh for a treadmill so I can do it at home.

So how do you all think I am doing?  If i am losing this slow in the honeymoon period, I am seriously doubting if i will reach my goal of 150.

when i went to my dr last week he said at this stage after surgery food is an extra first get teh protein then the vitamins and water then food is a bonus so thats what i have been doing the last few days, and the scale should move.

Honestly, I don't know! One of my 1st dumps was with tomato soup and 2% milk. The next was when I was trying to double up protein and mixed 2 packets NSA CIB in with 1 1/2 cups skim milk.. BAD!
All I know for sure is that the past experiences and fear are keeping me in line pretty good. Too afraid to try bad stuff.
