I'm a post now instead of a pre (surgery that is)
Had my surgery Tuesday, March 8th and got home Wednesday evening. Dr. Blackstone said everything went great. No drain, naseau, or anything. I've had very little pain. I made the mistake of letting the pain get on top of me at the hospital because I didn't like the liquid lorotab. So, instead of asking them to order a tablet and pill spit it in half, I just went back to bed. This was a mistake that I paid dearly for. That much pain cut into my walking and sipping time (very important). It's really hard to get that much water in when you have to take small sips and take time in between sips. After I got control of the pain, the SPA lady showed up and gave me a great facial and massage. That made everything all better.
I'm feeling good today, just one and a half days post surgery. Of course still doing clear liquids. I think it may get a little more difficult when I have to start making food choices next week. Good luck to you all. So far, really, easy time.
Good luck on your journey.

At my one month class they opened up our food choices to include fruits and vegetables (cooked only). They will still want you to focus on protein first and will tell you that you won't need to continue the shakes at that time. I still use the shakes sometimes because I can't get enough protein other ways. Chicken gets old no matter how many ways you cook it!
I guess at 4 months they will open up the food choices some more. Hopefully it will include milk and some other stuff like whole wheat foods.
I had RNY. Any questions you have please feel free to ask. I'm no expert but I'm a couple months ahead of you and can give you a heads up on what's to come. Good luck.

I am really having trouble with my stomach churning and burning right now. Did you get this? What is it?
I still have some problems with the "head hunger". I still never feel hungry so remembering to eat has been my problem. I know what you mean by the taste of food though, I was really grateful for that egg and beans! Funny thing is you probably won't even enjoy it but it beats the broth.
Sauces and things definitely help. You just have to use no sugar stuff. I use salsa on a lot of things and that helps too. Also you might try the greek yogurt like a sour cream substitute. It's pretty good that way.
I didn't have the churning and burning so I'm not sure. It could just be your actual stomach being angry because it doesn't have anything to do anymore. Definitely ask the office when they call you back.
