Topic: RE: ready give up having a pity party tonight
I know exactly how you feel. but mine is a bit worse than yours. I went in for my bypass surgery on oct. 23 2009. when i woke up my daughter told me i didn't have that surgery but had a hernia fixed. end up having some liver problems . dr. leport saidhe will not do another surgery on me. so went to insurance to see if i could do some thing else. well they took forever to get back to me and now i have no insurance. and don't see getting any in the near future. i have been so depressed for the last 2 yrs. trying to snap out of it it but am having a hard time doing that. so don't give up you still have insurance and the possability is still there. so keep the faith and i will send some praters your way. if you need a shoulder to cry on and some support im me . good luck on your journey. Topic: RE: Insurance assistance Health Plan of San Joaquin...
The process through midical can be very annoying. I currently have Alemeda Health through medical and I have a surgery date of 02/14/2012 but I started the process back in June. I originally went to a seminar at my local hospitals bariatric surgery program. They originally said they would accept my insurance and I would just need a referral from my doctor. I made a appointment with my doctor and she had no problem with giving me a referral for the surgery. It took 3 weeks to get in to see the bariatric doctor but a few days before my appointment they called and said that they wouldn't accept my referral through my doctor and I would either need to go to a new primary doctor they work with or get a new referral from my doctor to what every participating bariatric program they work through. I contacted my insurance directly and they advised me that either I switched primary or get a new referral from my primary for the bariatric program they worked with which was a hour away. I liked my primary doctor and after a few days of considering I didn't want to change to someone new so I got my new deferral. I then had to start the process all over again and go to another seminars with the new bariatric program. To say the least be prepared to have lots of bumps along the way in the process. It has now been 7 months and I finally got my final approval and surgery date. My suggestion is to contact the insurance directly let them know who your primary doctor is, then find out exactly what you need to do. I was lucky to speak with a lady at my insurance who looked into everything for me and got me on the right road.

Topic: RE: hi fellow calfornians
well i started my journey with the my surgeon in march of 2010. i was supposed to lose 25 pounds pre-op and my tentative surgery would have been september 2010. i failed to lose the weight and actually gained 15 more pounds. so instead of 25 to lose I had 40. finally i went to my surgeon for help and she lowered the requirement to only 20 pounds by my pre-op follow up appt which is set for feb 10. she said if i at least lose 10-15 shell go ahead and finally submit for auth. its taken me this long to realize i had an eating problem and to stop fightin the pre op weight loss requirement and just do it. thats probably why tricare denied you. you usually have to show some diet plan/weight loss before they approve. good luck to you!
