Topic: RE: Starting my liquid diet today, any suggestions???
I had to do a week of liquids.  I found what worked best for me was to drink a glass of water before I had my shake or soup and that helped to fill me up.  Also, I used Progresso soup and strained out the solids because the broth was so much more tasty.  I also loved Chinese hot and soup soup, again straining out the solids but enjoying the spicy tasting liquids.  I also did SF popsicles and SF jello.  I hope that helps.  Best of luck!!!  The time will pass and you're going to be on your way to a fantastic journey.

Topic: San Diego - Are you out there?
I posted here a few years back when I first moved to CA from NC, looking for others in the San Diego area that would like to get together once or twice a month. When in NC, I had a group of GP/Lapband friends that I knew that I could depend on to tell me that I look great or to "Put that cookie down now!". I need that again! I have started to gain back weight and it's scaring me.
I live in East County -SD but work at Miramar and love to visit new areas. Maybe we can meet for walks, indoor rock climbing, bowling, ANYTHING!

Topic: Sac area WLS support group - NSV goals for 2012!
Saturday, January 14th, 3PM

Hi guys!  Figured it was time for a sequel to our last meetup, which was pretty fantastic!   This is a lower-key meetup, focused on general support.  For this one, I was thinking:

(1) the beginning is saved to answer any pre-op questions

(2) the middle could focus on what non-scale victories we'd like to achieve this year (I'm going for both a 5K and 10K run!)

(3) the end can just be a free-for-all about whatever the group feels like discussing.

We'll meet at the Panera Bread near Watt Ave., which was specifically requested last time.  If you have a topic you'd like us to talk about, please let me know!  Hope to see you all there :)

If you'd like to show up, please RSVP here on Meetup.Com

Disclosure:  We're just a random group of WLS patients that live in the Sacramento area who provide terrific support to each other.  We're not part of a certain surgeon or certain hospital's group.

Heaviest weight:  310 pounds  (Male, 5'10")

As I understand it, the sublingual is the same as the shot. Both are absorbed directly into the blood stream. Though I've heard of people that have trouble absorbing sublingually (not sure why this happens). Anyway, my weight loss doc offers the shot and it keeps me from having to sit around with a pill under my tongue.

As far as the Phen I take what ever dosage the doc recommend, but I break it in two. I take one half at 11 and the other around 3. This works for my hunger patterns. (And really helps me get the house clean after work! Yep you get a burst of energy!)

The pill  is immediately effective in terms of suppressing my appetite (A liberating feeling ala honey moon phase post op). But it really interrupts my sleep after a few weeks. The doc has given trazedone to counter balance the affect, but it sucks the energy out of me so I don't use it. After using Phen for about 3 mos. I have to stop just to get back into normal sleeping habits. Otherwise I would just stay on it and not have to worry about the dreaded regain. But I gotta sleep!

Just went to the weightloss doc today. I didn't gain anything over the holidays! Looking forward to watching my pants fit better!

Oh...I also walk/running on the treadmill for 45min - 1hr 5 days a week. Been doing this for a few weeks now. I'll add weight lifting in soon (it takes me a while to adjust to a new routine so a introduce it gradually).

Hope this helps! Keep me posted on your progress.

There are people several years out.  Kaiser doesn't do revisions because of weight gain.  They give us a tool and tell us how to use it.  The rest is up to us.

We had a kaiser plastic surgeon speak last year.  All cosmetic surgery is self pay with kaiser.  People don't talk about it much at support group.  Only my friends know that I just had plastics.

My name is Lee, please say hello on the third Wednesday so I know who you are.  The last meeting had a lot of pre-ops but also post ops.  Dr. Baggs is supposed to come speak one of these days.
