Topic: RE: HONESTY FEED BACK
Hello,
I had Dr. Baggs as well and really like him. We have support group at kaiser richmond on the first and third Wednesday from 6-7:30. It helps people stay connected.
I have a friend that had RNY ten years ago. She put on weight over the years. In February she started going to Weigh****chers with me and is down 40 pounds.
I don't think there are any quick fixes out there but going back to basics and following the rules you were given at surgery still work. You can call kaiser if you need a new binder with the food rules.
Protein first, limit carbs, vitamins, hydrate, exercise. At 22 months I follow that plan as closely as I can.
You can do this!

You can go to the website 5daypouchtest dot com for all the details. It basically walks you through the first 5 weeks of post op life in a 5 day period. I do this for 5 days, then jus****ch my calorie intake with a higher protein intake for two weeks and start the 5 day diet again. I do this 3 week cycle until I drop the weight.
As for script pills. I go to a place called American Medical weightloss center. They monitor my blood pressure and give me b12 shots (as well as track my weight loss). But you can get them from your regular doctor too. They are expensive though. Also remember that not many people (even doctors) understand our new insides. I established the breaking the dosages down on my own.
God bless,
Rachel

Topic: LGBT forum invitation
Hello,
I just wanted to let people know and anyt there is a forum for the community and anyone who is friendly and want to stop by. I was very active 3 years ago and would like to see it become active again. It is listed under "weight loss related"
I am not attempting to offend anyone. I understand that some might not agree with me posting. I am doing it to help LGBT people. Everyone has the right to not agree. I respect that.
Thank You !
Sean
If you have trouble finding it just PM me

Topic: RE: Need help finding a support group meeting
Call your surgeon's office and ask the staff. They should have that info.
Also, call local hospitals; they often have open Bariatric Support group meetings.

Happy New Year to you, too! Isn't it great not to resolve to go on another diet at this time of year? Increasing activity will be so much easier to follow through on, and makes you feel so good, too!

Hi! I'm 8 years out and run 15-30lbs over my lowest at depending on what's going on in life. It particularly frustrating and scary when I get up around 30lbs. I'm there right now, but just started a diet and exercise routine.
Some of the newer post ops might not realize that most of the time, hunger comes back in full force and it doesn't take much of a stretch to get enough calories in to gain weight.
That being said, I utilize the 5daypouchtest (dot com) diet when ever I get to the 30lbs mark it truly seems to help 'shrink' the pouch (or at least make me a lot less hungry) and it helps me kick the carb habit. I've also started taking Phentermine (same as adipex I think) to get me through the months of dieting. Then I generally keep it off for close to a year before the regain really kicks back in.
As for presciption diet pills, it is important to remember they are time released which doesn't always work the same based on our bypassed intestine. I break my into into three separate doses a day which seems to work well for me. This is my second time using it to get through the dieting process and i'm pretty happy with it.
Would I like to say, I'm not a food addict and don't need a crutch like an appetite suppressor? Sure, but I'll have to figure that out in time. Right now I need to make sure I stay ahead of the game in terms of weight gain.
Sorry to be so long winded. I just wanted you to know that I get it!

Topic: RE: the excess skin
Everyone is different. Yes, i have bat wings for days and my stomach can be streched out like elasto girl. I can make shapes with mine. I am at the point in my life where the only time it has bothered me was when wearing jeans. I can wear a size 8 jeans now but because of all the skin it pushes upward. I have learned to deal with it though and don't really beleive in plastics unless it's causing rashes etc. I personally am too scared to go under the knife and my looks aren't as important as being heatlhy for me. I go through phases where i want it but then i think of the recovery time etc. I have 2 kids- one 18 month old and a 13 year old with Epilepsy and i need to be 100% for them. No time to recover from a surgery like that. I have seen MANY people have successful plastic surgeries though and think it really just depends on your body and how you feel inside and what is most important to you. I didn't have WLS to get into a bikini as i never will get into one and i know that. I am not a leg person and very self consious about my legs. I was at 280 pounds and still am at 160. That won't change. Good luck in your journey.
Jaime C.
