Topic: RE: Dr.Aranow
There is no "one" answer to your question. I have met some who breeze through the process and others with issues that required resolution prior to surgery.. I would guess 3 months to a year. It can depend on your insurance company, your pre-op health and the related testing. You will be given the opportunity to meet with various medical disciplines, to discuss nutrition, health, and psychological "readiness" . Each appointment is an important step to prepare you physically and mentally for your surgery and after care. This is a huge commitment you are making to change your life and cannot be hurried. The pre-op preparation will help insure you have the greatest chance at life long success. I wish you continued success and invite you to continue to ask any and all questions. Dr. Aranow will require you to attend a minimum number of Middlesex support group meetings where you will meet others considering the surgery as well as those of us that have "been there, done that". All your questions will be answered. I also extend an invitation to join a group called Central Connecticut Cares that was formed to offer additional support for Pre and Post ops. To find us click on the "groups" at the top of this page and search for Central Connecticut Cares. We formally meet monthly and plan other fun social events. Sign up and Join in........ Dan

Oh I came out of the exam room twice and was told to stand in the hall so he would see me, When I saw him he told me he was trying to get everyone see everyone ahead of me but I then realized people were done that came in after me. I said something to the women at the desk and she said I have no idea what is going on. He is just running from room to room. She looked for my chart and found it laying open on a cabinet and he was just taking charts off the top of the pile and it seems that the next person to be seen was on the bottom of the pile - not that I was in the pile at all. I told the receptionist that maybe she should help direct him as to who was next since I would hear him say so who is next and nobody was replying. It was soo messed up. Like I said I was on my way out and he came out of an exam room and asked me where I was going. I did tell him I was here for that long and needed to leave and we had a quick depressing conversation at the door and I left. Like I said, not sure I am going back. So very disappointed. I sat in the car and actually cried. Not the same old Tim I used to know. So uncaring...

Challenge them on it, Nancy. There's no excuse for being that late for an appointment with no explanation why. Sure, things happen, but it's really poor form to leave you hanging for 2 hours and not tell you what the hell is going on.

I did post on the Diabetes Forum but not the RNY forum. Will do that now. Just wish I could find someone local. Dr. Ehrlich seems to think I should be able to but I doubt it. Rethinking everything including him and his office staff. Not a happy camper after seeing him last week. I left very upset - no call backs from them, Kevin leaving strange messages - I dont' know how long it will take him to get it together but I left work for a 3:15 appointment, never saw him til 5:15 on my way out the door because I had to leave to take my daughter to dance. Don't know what is going on but he and the staff need a dose of reality and that is how to run an office.
