I guess I 'm old- though don't try sayin that to my face, girl!  lol

My favorite favorite thing is never ever having to worry if my weight is going to be an impediment to what I want to do.  It's very liberating!

don't bring much.. Tooth brush (Hospital ones are bad in my opinion). lip balm (my lips were so parched) Cell phone and a pillow for the ride home. Ipod if you want. anything else is extra and you won't need it.. when you are awake you will be sipping and walking .wear the same clothes to the hospital as you are home, forget the bra, and nothing nice since you are going to have the drain in.
Everything will go great.

Topic: RE: 2 yrs late for an appt..Finally went to Aranow's APRN
Hi Paula, kudos to you for facing your fears and making that appointment! Oh, the malabsorption issues seem to get worse the farther out we are from surgery. I hear this from about 80% of the people I'm engaged with in the WLS arena. Most severe deficiencies are calcium, iron, vitamin D and if those levels go one without intervention, it will mean serious consequences to our health. I don't think the industry has a handle on the true nature of medical issues related to post-surgey life - and the doctors and surgeons must be on top of this to best be able to guide us as we try to stay well and healthy. This is SO NOT about losing the weight and looking good in our clothes. This is about health. I'm really happy you went to see Dr. Aranow. I did as well, about a month ago and we talked about how painfully hungry I am all of the time; he thought it was my imagination and gave me about 10 oz. of water that he instructed me to CHUG as fast as I could. He was positive I would feel uncomfortable - but I felt nothing, no discomfort whatsoever. He was surprised and said this is indicative of the food going right through my pouch - hence the hunger. Next step is an endoscopy to see what's going on. I'll keep you posted - but please do likewise ok? Be well, my friend. Maureen

I can't wait to finish this bowel prep, just one more glass, woo hoo! Surgery is tomorrow @ St Francis w/ Dr. R. I am very excited and nervous at the same time. Just really want to be in the recovery room after all is said and done, but I guess that will be soon enough.

Is there anything I should bring to the hospital that you wished you had?

All the advice and suggestions on these boards have been awesome, thanks to everyone who contributes, it really helped this learker learn ALOT!

See you on the losing side SOON!

To err on the side of caution, I'd call your doc's office and just go in to make sure everything is ok.  You may have a slipped band or just some kind of rubbing that's just not right.  No need to go on suffering for a long time without being checked than to get it fixed now.

If OTC meds are not helping, then it must be something in regards with the band or ulcer like, etc that the docs need to look into.  That's what they are there for and what we paid them for!

Let us know how you make out.

Paula

Wondering if I'm a total freak!!! Had banding about 2 months ago and still have incredible intestinal distress no matter what I eat. I've tried every kind of laxative and anti-gas medicine out there, and nothing seems to work. Is this normal???  Could I have a problem with my band??
Thanks for reading!!
