Tammy I know how difficult waiting can be and only having the optifast and no real food. But you will get through it. If I were you I would call the insurance company and just ask if they received all the necessary paper work, maybe they will have an answer for you.
Hang in there.

Thanks Bev... just courious with this insurance they don't specify a specific amount of time for documentation. When i called the insurance company they said it up to the Dr's to review the file. So i only have 3 months of history. I praying that i will get approved. What do you think?

I have it through my husband's work. My lap band was done May of 2007 and they paid for all of it. We had a little hiccup starting in the January where they said they weren't covering my fills, but that got worked out and they do pay for them. My husband's work had their co-pays increased and there was supposed to be no changes in coverage. They tried to sneak that in but got caught.
I got all the testing done that my bariatric surgeon required. I also had been going to my primary care doctor for six months before about my weight so that it was on record. My PCP was a big advocate with the insurance and wrote letters recommending I needed weight loss surgery.
I don't know what may have changed in two years.
I got the procedure code and called Anthem BCBS to make sure they would cover it.
Good Luck,
Bev

Hi all... just wondering if anyone was approved with this insurance? And if so how much documentation did you have.
Thanks

Hope they approve! I would be pissed if I had to do the optifast and then not be able to have surgery.

I hear ya on that one Bev. I had some bean soup the first night and the second day was allllllllllll soup. The protein shakes made me sick. I tried to stick with the protein the next few days but the nausia (might be preggers) had me eating some crackers. The good news is I was able to break my sugar cravings. I don't want any candy or sweets. Well, I do want frozen Snickers (only frozen) and powdered donuts.

Good Luck Tammy. I hope the approval comes through for you. I've been trying the five day pouch test and I can't even get through day two without having to eat something solid. I feel your pain.
