Hi Folks!

It has been exactly a week since I found out that my company will NOT take the rider out of my insurance stating that it will NOT pay for the GBP.  My initial reaction last Thursday was shock, numbness, feeling heartbroken and utterly devastated.  I cried on and off all day on Friday.  I'm trying to take a positive approach and see this just as a setback.  There must be a reason I wasn't meant to have the surgery this year.

Tammy, congratulations on your upcoming date!!  I'm absolutely delighted for you!!  If you are still interested, let me know closer to the date of sugery and I will chose your anesthesiologist and nurse anesthesist.

I wish everyone nothing but the best!!

I am doing ok. IT has been a long road, but I am oficially on the losing side...down 25 pds. I am having some trouble with my incision that is concerning, but other than that I have so much energy, and I feel well. I am out walking and probably doing too much, but hey I am here and feel good.

How are you doing now that it's been nearly a month since your revision surgery? Please post. Maureen

Actually, I'll go one step further than Kathy and HIGHLY recommend you contact Dr. Tischler's office immediately and schedule an appoint with both the doctor AND his ASSistant. Once in the room together, demand that his ASSistant repeat the things he said to you in the same manner in which these things were said, in front of Dr. Tischler. If you are unsuccessful in securing an appointment, you need to threaten that you will take this matter up with the head of the hospital, and the hospital Board if necessary, until you have achieved resolution to your satisfaction. We all have been feeling pretty miserable about ourselves for most of our lives because of our obesity - we certainly don't need any help in that regard. Be pro-active, and keep us posted. And yes, Dr. Aranow is wonderful. Maureen

Topic: SG at Middlesex??
Hi - did anyone go to the Middlesex SG meeting this past Monday night? I was going to go but decided not to at the last minute; the last two meetings I've been to were not at all helpful - the meetings seem to have lost the structure and positive group enthusiasm that was so evident 3 or more years ago - what's your take? I realize this is a sensitive issue but support is so critical to our maintaining success and I absolutely subscribe to the theory, 'I can't fix what I don't know is broken.' Maybe we can get some of the old Great Spirit back into the Middlesex SG rooms! And if I'm way off base, feel free to tell me!  Maureen

Hi Tammy, I'm thinking very good and powerful thoughts for you. Your courage and commitment to taking control of your own health desitny is awe inspiring and I can't wait to read your "losing" posts! What made you decide on this particular surgeon? Can I ask (and you don't have to answer): how much weight did you lose initially, from your band surgery and how much have you regained - to the extent that you feel this revision surgery is necessary? I KNOW I don't have any restriction anymore, so either (or both) my pouch and stoma are terribly enlarged. I am painfully, ravenously hungry all of the time. But I had the bypass in 2004, so I don't think there are any revision options for me - the endoscopy procedures absolutely do not work, they are a scam. Whatever you can share is greatly appreciated and in the meantime, know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. Best, Maureen

Dear Tammy, I remember all those feelings and emotions that come while waiting for surgery. They will soon be all behind you and you will have the excitement of seeing the scale change in a downward direction and the wonder of having your clothes get loser and loser.(Do you have any consignment shops nearby?) You will be able to do all the things necessary to get through it all, the emptying of a drain will become second nature to you and you will become proficient in giving yourself the injections, those days will fly by and along with it a new way of eating an incorporating new habits that will help you be successful . Follow your doctors plan as closely as you can, the rules they give us are for a reason. Your new pouch will work for you as long as you use it properly.

Wishing you all the best.

Sher
